Hi all! I guess I'm going to try to do a PTR. I have read many others on this site and they are so entertaining! I don't know how well I will do but here goes!
We have a small cast of 2, my DS5 and myself, a full time working Momma who never has a free moment!
I decided to plan this trip when I returned from Cape May, NJ this past August. I love to get away, but since 2000 I have not had a vacation more than a long weekend.
I began looking on line to see if I could get a good deal for the shore by booking a trip for 2010 so far in advance. I guess it dosen't really work that way!
I stumbled upon the official Disney site thinking the whole time that it would be WAY to expensive! All of a sudden..."WOW!!!! A value room at Disney costs less that at the shore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"Not only that, my DS5 LOVES Sports! And so it began, I am now officially a Disney NUT! Nothing was going to stop me from making this happen! You have to understand that with me, when I have an idea or a plan I WILL make it happen no matter what! I booked the trip for February (12 days away to be exact! so that my DS5 could celebrate his 6th Birthday in the World
!!! I decided this would be his "BIG" Christmas gift this year so I kept the secret. I figured that making memories at the happiest place on earth would be better than any material gift he could receive. I don't know about you but I remember"time" not things from my childhood. And believe me, "time" is NOT something that I have a lot of! Christmas Eve every year is spent at my aunts house with the whole family
and I decided that I wanted to share this wonderful surprise with the family. I bought "gag gifts" for the family to give to DS5 as his "real" gifts, such as sunglasses, a poncho, sunscreen, etc. My DS5 is a wonderful kid. He said Thank You for everything eventhough I know he didn't want that stuff!
Then came the big surpise! At this point I have be going trying to keep this secret what seemed like forever! I couldn't wait to see how happy he would be! After all, WDW is EVERY kids dream right? So, I have been waiting for this moment for months, lots of preperation and research. I made him a awsome countdown calendar, I printed out pictures of every place we will be, and I got the WDW planning video to give him some visuals. I put a voice box inside a Mickey stocking so he could press it and get the Magical news (Thanks DIS board, I found that ide4a while I was lurking!) "It's here! This is the moment!" How lucky I felt to be able to do this for my DS5!
As my aunt recorded and I grabed my camera...He pushed the button! "Merry Christamas! Your going to Disney World for your 6th Birthday!
......nothing. "Did you hear that? Do you know what that means?!!?!!" "Yup" he says.....nothing. What?!??!Really?!!?!! To my dismay, he was not excited like I was, still isn't. What I realized is that eventhough I jumped through all the loops trying to give him as many visuals as I could he has no point of reference. I believe that he thinks it is nothing more than an amusement park. Boy is he in for a BIG surprise! So enough for the story behind the trip let's get to the actual plans!!!!
Monday: DS5 and I will be leaving on a direct flight early evening.
This will be DS5's 1st flight! I am hoping all goes well and everything is on time! We should arrive at MCO about 2 and a half hours later!
We will be taking ME to the ASSports. I am thinking (after reading here on the DIS how long it can take to receive your luggage) we will get our bags ourselves since it will be fairly late and I don't want to stay up to wait! By the time we arrive at the resort and check in, I think it will be too late to do much other than check out the resort and grab a bite at the food court. We will grab a pair of refillable mugs and head back to the room...EPCOT tomorrow!
Tuesday: OUR FIRST PARK DAY AT DISNEY!
I plan for us to get up early, around 6:30am and have a quick bfast at the food court. EPCOT has EMHs that morning! I'd love
to be there for rope drop but we'll see how that goes! I plan to spend most of the day at Epcot. We will pick up a light lunch in the WS, something different! Early evening we have an ADR at Coral Reef Restaraunt! My DS5 will love this! I have heard that thr food is just so-so but he will REALLY enjoy the atmosphere! This trip is basically all about DS5, we can do pretty much anything he wants, so I did not plan out the days besides the ADR's. There is however, a MUST DO for me! I have to do Pick a Pearl! I want it set into a ring! Of course DS5 will be picking it out for me! I plan to possibly (depending on the weather and on what DS5 wants to do) go back to the resort for a mid-day break and SWIM!!! Swimming in February is unheard of if you live in the NE like us
! We plan to end the evening with Illuminations, I know I will cry! Back home to ASSports for a good nights sleep!
Wednesday: DS5 (OPPS! I mean DS6 today!!!
)... DS6
's BIRTHDAY!
Magic Kingdom here we come!!
WOW, we will need to get up REALLY early! We have an ADR at 7:30am at Ohanna's. I think this will be a neat place to start off DS6's Birthday celebration! Believe me when I tell you EVERYONE will know it is his Bday! I made him a very "loud" shirt reminding everyone. (LOL!!) After Ohanna's we will hop the monorail to Magic Kingdom.... "Oooooo, the Castle!" Yet again I'm sure I'll cry (happy tears of course!) I can't wait until DS6 sees it for the very first time!
I want to do everything! Again, I don't have a plan while we are there, I want to see what DS6 wants to do! After all it is his Bday! The only ride here that is a must do for me is the HM. I hope DS6 won't chicken out! Lunch is open, anywhere DS6 decides will be fine! I want us to see all the parades and shows and fireworks we can! After the park closes we have a late ADR for Chef Mickeys! I read that is one of the best places to celebrate a child's Bday! I sure hope they do something special for him! (Thanks to all you "seasoned" DISers
for this tip!) Then back to ASSports.
Thursday:
Our last full day!
We will start with light bfast from the food court then hopefully an early swim. We have an early lunch res. at TRex in DTD. DS6 will have SO much fun!!! A funny thing is that I mentioned to DS6 that there is a Lego store at DTD. THIS IS ALL HE TALKS ABOUT! Enough with the darn Lego's...we have them here! We will do a bit of shopping then.... Off to HS! (I know, I know. I had to cut a park and it was AK. Nothing against AK but I think that would have been DS6's least fav. Don't get me wrong, I
LOVE Animals!!!!!!) I really like this park, I've heard others that don't. My must do here is ToT! I'm really not sure if DS6 will be tall enough. Even if he is, I don't know if I can convince him to do it!?! We have an ADR at Sci Fi right after Fantasmic! After that, maybe back to DTD or maybe a swim? It is our last day so even if we are up late, it's OK!
Friday:
Time to go home.
We have a fairly early flight, ME will have to get us to MCO around 11:30am.
I hope we will have nice weather so maybe we can go for a swim or something! I know we will both be sad to leave but I will be VERY happy to return home to see my 2 furbabies!!
This magical vacation will conclude with me trying to plan for 2011
!!
All in all, I just hope all goes well, nice weather, nice CM, and LOTS of magic!
I will certainly try to write a TR when I return! Thanks for listening!
