Can't use ME if not flying?

Also, I think I priced dropping a car off at the car care center verses returning it to the airport for a trip last year. IF I remember correctly (and I may not be :)) it made the rental cost more. So, enter both options when you're making your reservations. Although if the price difference is minimal it would probably be worth it to avoid the trouble of going to MCO.

I am sorry to be the downer but if lots of people do this, the buses will be overcrowded with people not flying in.

I would not do it.

The disney buses would not see any increase. How many people would want to drive themselves to the airport to take a 20 minute bus ride. Very few people could even benefit by doing this.

I would even venture to say that the numbers would offset with someone who was tagging a business trip with a Disney trip and wanting to do this, with the number of Disney guests that rent town cars or take taxi's to the resort instead of using ME.

Personally, I have a bigger problem with the guests that use rentals, towncars and taxi's while making reservations with ME just to get the luggage service...but unless Disney cracks down on it, that is my opinion and they can do what they want.

If you've got a DVC reservation or Disney resort reservation aren't you paying for it whether you fly in or not? If Disney knows you're coming won't they be able to provide an adequate number of buses? I don't see the problem. Maybe I'm missing something. :confused3

The purpose of Disney providing ME is to keep Guests who fly from renting cars and maybe spending time off property. In their mind if you aren't flying, they aren't paying.

I agree with SamiL, it is a service provided with your reservation, as for Disneynutz, Disney is still getting exactly what they want. She is dropping off a rental car in order to be "trapped" at Disney.

Not only that but you don't even have to have a spot reserved ahead of time.

My Mom was able to walk up to the desk when she arrived, gave her information and took the ME. At that time they took her return flight information. That is what ME told her to do since it was a last minute flight.

I second this, recently did this. Had a cruise before, dropped the car off at MCO and walked over to the ME counter. As long as they can find your reservation at Disney in their computer you are fine.

The only difference between walking up and calling is that you have wait in line to get the passes that ME normally mails to you.

When my SIL came to join us at WDW, her international flight got in late and they told her that she could use ME but she had to get her own luggage and then check in at the counter when she got there to arrange transportation. They didn't care about her flight info since she was bringing her luggage and checking in at the desk, so they obviously plan on having some people just show up at the desk and probably plan on it.

I bet I'm out of date but I thought Disney had an agreement with the airport not to accept walk ups?
