Ok--Our trip consisted of 7 (yes 7) people---2 adults and 5 (count them..5) kids not only that we decided to camp,in July,at Fort Wilderness over the Fourth!!! Crazy...maybe but then we've never been ones to take the easy road!!!
To fill you in on all who went on our first "REAL" vacation-- There was
DH-ME-DS15-DS11-DD8-DSD8-DD4
Our flight is scheduled to leave at 7:20am so for hours I'm trying to put kids to bed with the threat that "If you do not go to sleep now the only place you'll be able to sleep tomorrow is on some airports floor" but it didn't work because DS15 kept insisting he was going to stay up all night so of course the younger ones decided to follow suit. Well slowly but surely they all lost their all-nighter battle with DS being the last one to toss in the towel at about 3am.
At 4:45am DH and I start the battle to wake 5 kids get them dressed and to the cars to make the 20 minute trip to the airport--We arrived at MCI at about 5:30 and leave DS15 outside the doors with our luggage while we drove to the economy parking lot with the four younger ones then hopped the shuttle back to the terminal.
We brought our bags inside to the check in counter then walked around the terminal to kill some time and ate at Cinnabons for breakfast (This is something I will not do again!
)
The flights were smooth-Our layover in ATL wasn't to long and as our flight was over Orlando we noticed rain running down the windows---No Problem--People always talked about the rain in Orlando as more sunshowers than downpours so we were not worried.
We deboard(deplane)(de'plane de'plane-what show was that...something Island I think) hop on the tram,grab our 2 bags from the carousel and head for the Magical Express counter. Here we had about a 10 minute wait before we got outside to the bus. On the highway heading to WDW it was pouring and DH nervously said "Maybe we should've gotten a hotel" my reply to him was "This is Disney World, maybe Walt will smile down on us and send some pixie dust our way and it will stop raining"
After 2 stops the bus arrived at FW. The kids explored the lobby while DH checked us in and then we were led outside by the nice man who drove the FW van,loaded up and given a quick tour of the campground as he made his way to our campsite. We told him we had brought our tent with us and he said that was great because when our luggage arrived from ME they would just put it in our tent if we were not there. WOOHOO!!
We had campsite number 2021 and immediately set about setting up our tent,as we were doing this we noticed that it wasn't raining anymore,the sun had come out and there wasn't a cloud in the sky!! (THANKS WALT!!!)
Since the weather turned our way we decided to hit Magic Kingdom and hopped on the bus to the beach where we boarded the ferry and started off across the lagoon and at about the halfway point DH remembered we were supposed to be getting our groceries delivered by gardengrocer.com and called the front desk and they told him not to worry they would hold the items at the front desk until he came to get them.
My picture taking started on the dock for the ferry and didn't stop until the plane took off for home but I won't bore you with the over 700 pictures I took but just insert pictures from that part of the trip we are discussing!
Once at the MK we strolled around just taking everything in. I couldn't believe it! We had made it to WDW!

We ate first at PECOS BILLS to the tune of $73-We were using the dining plan for other meals while we were there. After leaving PB's we got in line for Pirates of the Carribean and loved it-It was cool to see scenes from the film incorporated into the ride. From there we went on the Magic Carpet Ride and DH managed to get spit on twice while riding!
We walked back up to the hub and walked thru the castle to Excaliber where each kid tried to pull it out to the Haunted Mansion where my DD8 was possessed by the spirit of a burly old ghost as he rode in the car with us then to Splash Mountain which everyone loved and to this day I still hear Zippee Do Dah from DD4 as she walks around the house!

As we left SM we managed to get front row seats (if you will) to the Spectromagic Parade and decided to stay on the bridge waiting for the fireworks which took so long in coming we decided to head back up towards Main St and found that this was a mistake because that is where everyone else was but we did end up seeing the fireworks from the left side of the castle and this in no way diminished it for the kids
UP NEXT--Day 2 MK again!!
