Can't take this coughing anymore!

I stayed home from work yesterday with a sore throat and cough...started as a cold last week. I also have asthma, so everything goes to my chest eventually. Going to dr. later. I was up til 1 coughing, thought I was going to dislocate my jaw. My bronchial tubes feel raw.

I have had this before, and it really stinks. You get so tired that your coughs are not productive, and then you have to cough even more, tiring you out further.

I am glad you are going to the doctor. If nothing else, he should be able to give you some robitussin with codeine so you can sleep.

Do you have any coffee? Drink a strong HOT cup of coffee and if you don't like coffee doctor it with hot chocolate or flavored creamer or a piece of chocolate.

Make sure you get a cough expectorant(mucinex) when at the doctor to help get the nasty up and out. I've had this off and on for the last month and just can't totally get it out yet. I think I've drank gallons of coffee.(Lucky for starbucks)

You can sign for cough syrup with codeine at your druggist counter.

Thanks everyone. Codeine makes me nauseous! I wish I could take it. I need something good to help me sleep. Last night DH gave me a shot of 12 yr old Scotch!!

DH has been battling that same thing since last week and he's also asthmatic. Thankfully he still has Advair discs left over from the last one that doesn't expire until March of '07. Doctor told him it last time it was ok for him to do this if he needed it. He's already had to use his emergency inhaler a few times.

Check with your doctor about Advair discs. It may help. Feel better.

I have this horrible cough too. Last night I had to go to emerg for a ventolin treatment because my inhalers were just not working.

That bug that is going around now is downright NASTY!!

I have been sick since XMas Eve - sore throat, runny nose, SEVERELY CONGESTED - the works. I got Robitussin CF to finally clear up my chest congestion - but now it all moved to my head! My cheeks hurt so bad - my teeth hurt - I cannot hear!!!! Sending BF to get a sinus formula to see if that will help my head!

I had that cough for about 2 weeks before I gave in and went to the Dr. she gave me a script for albuterol(which you already use) plus a cough med called Tesselon Perles, they worked great. As for the cough syrup with codeine it worked great for me, you might need to ask for something to help with the stomach though, like phenergan. Take your meds and rest, hope you feel better soon.

Can I join the group of chest problems folks? Pneumonia here! I've been taking lots of Prednisone, inhalers, expectorants, and narcotics...and I'm still sick. It has been a flippin month since I started feeling "off my game"!

There are so many people who are SO much sicker that I feel pounds of guilt when I mention it...but I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired! Being sick...even if it is just some temporary pneumonia...sucks.

Checking in sick here too. Mine started Tuesday with just an all around feeling bad, exhausted type feeling. Then the coughing set in and now I just feel horrible. I have a bit of congestion but not alot. I just feel so so bad. I haven't gone to the Dr. yet but I may have to soon.

Add my middle ds to the sick list, only his cough i am chalking up to a sinus infection, he has chronic sinusitis, and i think we are in a flare, again.

Try MucinexDM with the decongestant and expectorant. It really works really well for tough congestion.

had the same thing, the cough lasts over a week! I only took cold nighttime alka seltzer and slepp good, but DH said I cough all night. It is just starting to go away now, I thought people at work were gonna kill me I was coughing so much. It does hurt your chest so much. I also have blown my nose more than a human should be able too! I mean, I can breath through my nose, yet tons of stuff comes out, it is very odd! But its almost gone now too.

I don't have asthma but since you do, I would get checked too. feel better soon!
