On Tuesday night, 3 girls knocked on our door and did some carol singing. They were really good singers...they did a sort of medley with the first verses of a number of christmas songs...so diferent from the usual kids we get who only seem to know "we wish you a merry christmas"....and they were extremely polite and they were rewarded accordingly.

We live about 3 houses away from the corner of a busy main road, and minutes after they left I heard some police sirens, but was busy giving my kids their baths, I thought nothing of it.

Later I found out that one of the girls had been the victim of a hit and run crossing the road just feet away from our house, and is in an extremely bad way

They were such nice children compared to some of the kids who live nearby, and as such i'm deeply saddened by this and keep thinking that I might be one of the last people to see this girl alive, and she's only 9 years old.

Oh how awful, my thoughts are with her family, and I can only hope and pray that she makes a full recovery

A 47 year old woman handed herself in several hours later.

I know its stupid to think things like this, but if I had say let them sing one more verse, that car would have already passed through by the time they got to the road.
