I have been on this sweets craving for some time now maybe a year or so. It's not like a once in while craving either. I get these uncontrollable desire to HAVE to have something sweet. The only way I can describe the feelings I get, it would be like a smoker that needs to have a cigeratte, or a drugie that needs his drug. I have never been additcted to anything before, but that has to be what it is. How can I stop this? There is no patch for getting off of sweets!!! Someone out there needs to invent one, please! :p

I really have tried lots of things to stop, but it just hasn't worked yet. I now have a great amount of admiration for people who quit drugs, alchol and cigs, because I am having the hardest time quiting something as stupid as sweet junk food!! :furious:

Great, I really never thought about this as a problem until you mentioned it. Let me go grab a cupcake while I think about it. :lmao:

Seriously, I know what you mean. I have to have my junk food, too!

It is a problem when there is nothing sweet in my house to eat, and that's all I want!! Send a cupcake my way will ya! :rotfl:

I gave up sugar last year during a low carb diet and you would have thought I was a crack head going through withdrawl. I was sooooo bad! Headaches, mood swings, cravings, shaking hands....

Sugar is addicting...and unfortunatley, I fell off the wagon. I'm back on the stuff and I need to quit again. Hopefully before school starts again I can get back on track.

OP- I just saw a promo on tv for this week's Dateline and it's all about people being addicted to certain foods, especially sweet/junk food!! I kid you not!!

It'll air Friday night, the 18th. I must tune in! :teeth:

Does anyone have any chocolate? :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I used to have terrible chocolate cravings as well as pop/soda. My dr recently put me on Topamax for my migraines, and my cravings are gone! Not to mention it makes pop taste terrible! I've lost 15 lbs in 3 weeks. :cool1:

Have you had your blood sugar checked? If it's truly not anything physiological, you should read the Thin Commandments. Gee, I don't remember what it was called, but it was interesting and that was at least part of the title. It has some information about these kinds of cravings that I'd never seen before.

I have overcome most of these kinds of cravings, but I think if I started eating this kind of stuff, I'd have a hard time stopping.

Good luck.

My sister just started taking Topamax for migraines, too. She told me the dr warned her that it might make her lose her appetite. Yeah, I've got headaches too...migraines now that you mention it... :rolleyes1
Do you have to have a  a day? For some reason, she has to!

Is Topamax a daily med for migraines? I take Maxalt for migraines only when I get one (and I get them often). What are the other possible side effects besides lossing your appetite? I would love to take a pill that made me loss my appetite.
