I don't often have a problem with sleep but when I do it's awful. I feel for you and hope you can finally get some rest. ((hugs))

Ugh.. I suffer daily.. About once a week I take an ativan.. Is your sleep pill prescribed? Just asking because I hear some work against you..

I sympathize

I take over the counter stuff. Utisom, that desolves in your mouth. It says to take 2 but I only take 1 which used to work. My friend stated that my body might have gotten used to the drug which is why it has stopped working. But I think most drugs are fasibos and just water pills now a days. Cuz when I get a headache no pills stop the ache. I just feel like all pain medication and sleep aids over the counter are fasibos...aka water pills. Melatonin used to work for me as well. I might go back to that.

I know the feeling.

I can't fall asleep, don't sleep well when I do and don't sleep for long. This is most of the time. When I have 3/4/5 nights like this in a row I used to take an Advil PM or Tylenol PM. Sometimes Nyquil. They do not always work.

One doctor (a long time ago) wanted me to go for the Sleep Apnea test and I never went. My current doctor prescribed Ambien since I don't want to go for the test but I threw out the rx.

A friend recommended Costco's (Kirkland) sleeping pills. I take one every 10 days or so - so far it helps. I have a better night, less twisting and turning and I think I might actually sleep an extra hour or so. I feel fine in the morning.

FYI. The active ingredient in Unisom is benadryl. You might as well buy generic benadryl and save money.

You don't really believe that most drugs are placebos, do you?

Sorry, but what is a fasibo? And by water pills what do you mean? Do you mean a diuretic? That's the only drug I've heard called a water pill, but I definitely don't think most drugs are diuretics (in fact, I know that they aren't). So, maybe that isn't what you mean by water pills. Those definitely won't help with sleep (having to get up to use the washroom in the night would only make things worse).

But, yes, you can definitely build up a tolerance to over-the-counter sleep aids.

ETA - I swear the post before mine wasn't showing when I posted. I take it you mean placebo and sugar pill. I echo the PP's comment - do you really believe all drugs are fakes?

I think she must mean placebo aka sugar pill. I think she is a bit confused.

I don't think most drugs are placebo at all.. I do agree on our bodies getting so used to it, it no longer works.. I guess it because do to various issues I have been on SOOO many different types..

Next time I am in Costco I am going to pick up a pack of those, thanks AnnaS..
