Can't sleep- how do you pronounce "Akershus"?

I was another who asked the cast members. The first one said "Ah-ker-shoes". Then, another sounded like she was saying it differently so I asked her how she pronounced it and she said "Ak (like it rymes with hawk) - her - seuss (like the writer Dr. Seuss)". I usually say it more like the first one.

Jenna, this was a 10 year old zombie thread. Out of curiosity, how did you find it? Was it at the bottom of a page with a bunch of other threads? A bunch of us on the Community board are speculating on the outbreak of zombie threads all over the Dis.

I forgot that I ever started this thread!! It is a real blast from the past- at the time, DD was 6 and we were debating going for a meal. This might have even been before it was a character meal.

Now, DD is a senior in high school. Time certainly does fly!

Oh no. I hate zombie threads and now I'm one of the ones bumping them. I think it was one of the threads at the bottom of the page. Sorry about that.

I always enjoy speaking with the exchange CMs in the WS restaurants. Once my brother and I were eating at Akershus and we asked our waitress how she liked her stay in America. She said she really enjoyed it and liked practicing her "Language squeals." giggle. We congratulated her on her language skills!

My husband was born and raised in Sweden and I lived there with him for years and learned the language. Swedes and Norwegians have a similar enough language that when they speak their native languages to each other they fully understand what the other is saying. If the A in Akershus is actually an A with a little "o" over it it would be pronounced as Aw almost as in the word awful or moreso how the ou sounds in pour. So- Aw-kurs-hoos is fairly close to how it should it sound.

Threehearts

Literally it translates as house of the Akers or Akers house. So threehearts is right, it's Aw-kurs-hoos.
