We are going to WDW next August. That much is settled. But where will we stay??? I don't know! I can't decide!

We have three kids, so affordable options are not a'plenty. First, I had my heart set on 2 rooms at POP. But then the new rates came out. Sticker shock! Changed my mind to SOG.

While SOG looks beautiful, I don't think one room will work for my family. We stayed in one room at a hotel in Frankenmuth, MI this weekend and nobody was able to sleep. Between snoring, and different sleep habits (some of us are night owls, some are early to bed early to rise) it just doesn't work. We need two rooms. Also, in my heart of hearts I want to be in a true Disney hotel.

So, I began to rethink two rooms at POP (I guess the sticker shock is wearing off a little). But I keep hearing "connecting rooms are not a guarantee." That's very true. I don't want to split up my family. So, now I'm thinking the ASMu Family Suites.

Next week I'll probably have another brilliant idea :rotfl: I don't know what to do! Any ideas to help a confused girl sort this all out?

I'd love to hear from people who've stayed at any of these resorts, what are your opinions of them? Which do you like best?

I would prefer the family suite because you have a mini-kitchenette and since it sounds like you want to save money - this would be a huge plus over 2 basic rooms at POP with no fridge or microwave. Think easy mac, oatmeal, sandwiches, drinks, etc... You would save a lot a money.

We really liked Pop too, but the kitchenette at ASMu suites is very practical. Some other options could be renting points from a DVC member (check out the DVC boards) or check out the Fort Wilderness cabins. There may be some discount codes (although very rare these days) or other great info at mousesavers.com

SOG is a very large room with two queen size beds and a pull out queen in the couch. Five people, especially kids, will fit nicely. It is truly one of the nicest hotels in WDW. I've never stayed at POP, but have stayed in all three of the AS and the rooms are very small. We had two connecting rooms last September for DS(28) his Dgf, DW and I and the rooms were adequate for that. We were planning on staying at SOG but we were there for a wedding and everyone was staying at AS Mo. Also free DDP then. It still cost us a chunk more than SOG would have cost.

Let us know what you finally decide. have a good time no matter what!

Have you thought about a cabin at Fort Wilderness? I think they accommodate 6 to 8 people (may be wrong about the 8 part).

I read in another post that someone was told by Disney reservations that if the number of children in your party exceeds the number of adults, they will guarantee connecting rooms. Don't know if that's true or not.

If you have only ever stayed at POR, with the lovely grounds, bigger rooms, and nicer amenities, you will likely be disappointed with POP. We just got back from a budget trip (6 night POP) and although we had a very nice time, the room was no more than a basic Motel 6, sans coffee maker! SOG, or even the DD properties on Hotel Plaza Blvd. http://www.downtowndisneyhotels.com/
will have larger rooms for less $.
