I was just pricing out a cruise. Can we not see which dining is available before booking? That makes a big difference to me. TIA

I think they mean early or late seating for dinner. If you can't pick one in the booking process chances are only late is available. You can call and be put on a waitlist and very often waitlists are granted.

Yes, that is what I meant. I thought we used to be able to see before booking. I guess only Second available if not seeing it. That makes me nervous. The payment date is Jan 8. I wonder if lots of people will cancel soon bc of Christmas biils, etc or if there are very few cancellations....

I always book through a TA and she tells me what is available. Have you called DCL?

I can only tell you that our group of 9 booked too late for Main seating, and we were given late seating. We called (or really our TA did) and got us put on the waiting list, but we never got off of the waiting list. Then, when we got on the ship we went to the dining room to request the change (we got on the ship around 12:30), and they switched the 9 of us to the early seating, no problem. Of course if it is an absolute deal breaker, you might not want to chance it.

Book the cruise by putting a free "Hold for 3 Days" on it first. It will automatically put you in second seating. Go to your reservations page and click on the second seating "change" button to see if you can change it to main seating. That will give you the info you need. If only late dining is available & you won't cruise without main seating, then don't pay for the cruise, and it will be automatically cancelled after 3 days. I've done 3-day holds countless times- so easy.

I have booked twice about 45 days out, and been given late dining. Both times I have called DCL, and requested main dining. Both times they have accommodated me and my party of four. Good luck!

When we booked our cruise about 3 months ago, I also was concerned that I couldn't pick the seating when I was making the reservation. When the confirmation came up, it said we were assigned to the second seating, but I was able to immediately go into my Disney Cruise account and change it to Main Dining no problem by clicking on the link next to the dining designation. I wonder if it's because of their newer booking interface.

Since the change, the default for reservations is second (late) seating. But you can change it after the reservation is made either online or by calling.
