Great question! The Grand Hall of the Haunted Mansion, without a doubt. Even though I know how the effect is achieved, I still feel wonder and delight every time I see those ghostly couples dancing, the dueling portraits trading shots, etc.
The Haunted Mansion ballroom. I am one of the few who have purposely never researched how the effect is created and don't want to know, though I assume how its done in the back of my mind. It beats any other special effect out there simply because it was created at a time when special effects weren't easy to achieve.
I won't give you any spoilers, but I can tell you that the effect behind the Ballroom Scene was used in Parisian cabarets in the 1890's.
Yep, Disney didn't invent the technology of that effect. Maybe they improved upon it, but it was known for 70+ years before the Haunted Mansion existed.
Also in the HM, I like the rotating busts, those statues of heads that seem to "follow" you. That technique predates Disney as well. I think it's better in DL than at the MK.
