Can't go back til 10/ 2007 :o(

We took our girls for the first time in December (we'd been numerous times pre-kid).... my 4 year old DD made things very hard-she was terrified of the characters and hated the parks-wouldn't ride any "indoor" rides (that pretty much is about 90% of the rides there!LOL!) and only wanted to go to the pool (Stormalong Bay) at our hotel (Beach Club). It was so strange not doing the rides that signify Disney (ie. Peter Pan, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, etc...) because even if DH and I took turns, Kate was soooo impatient and upset about being at the park(s) for fear that a character might appear. Riley (my 2 yr old DD) went with the flow pretty much-loved the characters and was more receptive to whichever rides she could go on based on her height.... so now DH said that he won't even entertain the idea of returning until the girls are 7 and 5... it just seems SO far away!!!! He wants Kate to be out of her scared stage and doesn't want to deal with carseats on planes, strollers, and diapers next time around.... I still think we had fun despite not spending much time in the parks... bummer ( I hate to go another 3 years w/o my "fix"....

That is a bummer.I am lucky my kids love the parks . My youngest is a little afraid of the dark rides and some fo the charcters but she just stayed away fromthe ones she was frightened of and huged us a little when ahe was afraid on the rides. Whenever they see something Disney or the TV or the computer they both dsay they want to go back.

It sounds to me like you will just need to go on "adults only" trips to the world until the kids are older!!!! Seriously, I have gone on 1 "no kids" trip to WDW, and it was a blast. My kids love WDW, and are older, but they were fine with us leaving them, because they have already been a few times. ( plus they knew I would bring home presents!!)

My youngest is now 11 and she is STILL scared of some of the rides that are dark. Some kids just are like that.

Why did you pick 3 years???? at 4 years old scarey things can go away over night....and as far as diapers....your 2 yr old should be fairly clear in about 1 yr.

3 years is a long time....hopefully you can convince him to go back sooner....

The things my dd didn't want to do at 4 and at 5 were quite different....and we also..make her go on rides that aren't scarey ie Peterpan, small world, winnie the pooh....at least once...then if she didn't want it she could choose not too....well most of the time she was fine after she experienced the ride once....but if she chose not to we did respect her choice.

LOL! I didn't pick 3 years... my DH did! I wish it were sooner-but he wants to give it "plenty" of time so that HE can enjoy the next trip I think.... I'm trying to look on the bright side and think of it now as technically 34 months since we'll go in Oct. rather than December next time??? LOL! It's going to be a long 34 months though!!!! :jumping4:

I was thinking the same thing. We have been on two mommy and daddy trips since we've had children and they were AWESOME! We left the kids with relatives. We flew down so we were able to stay 3-5 days. My children are older now and I don't think we could get away with it now.(they might hi-jack the plane! lol) But I don't think you guys would have a problem being that your daughter hated the parks.

You're very lucky to have relatives willing to babysit! I'm quite envious..... I'll just be counting the days until Oct. '07 and getting my fix through all of you here on the board when I read everyone's trip reports!!! Thanks for the suggestion though!!!!

Just think of all the other fun places you can take them between now and then! Disney is a great vacation, but it's not the only choice out there!
