I can't get the Toy Story section that I wanted at ASMo. That is the only reason we were staying there b/c my kids wanted the Toy Story room.... should I just upgrade to Moderate? Any idea what the price difference will be? Or should I chance that I might get it upon check in????

Is there a huge difference between the Preferred and the standard???? Ugh... to many decisions... We have never been to WDW so we are unsure as to what to do!

If I move to Moderate which one would you suggest?

Thanks!!!

I can't help you with the decision on whether or not to move, that's a toughie. But, if you do chose a mod, I highly recommend POFQ. The French Quarter is a lovely hotel, very intimate, but still kids around. I loved how it had a very relaxed feel to it after the hectic parks. :thumbsup2

Edit: Also, have you considered the Pop? I know you wanted the Toy Story theme, but my DS loves the Pop, and so do we! The food court is great, pools are awesome, and DH is in love with the slushy coke machine. Just food for thought.

You can work up various packages on the disney.com site to see the price difference between a value and moderate resort.

Location is the only difference. Except for the movie poster on the wall, the rooms are all the same. If you got a room in Mighty Ducks, it has a pool and it is close to the ASMu bus stop. You'll have a little farther to walk to get to the food court. ASMo isn't all that big, so it's not far from Love Bug or Mighty Ducks.

If the only reason you want to stay at ASMo is to get a room in the Toy Story section to please your kids then yes, I would change to a different resort.

There isn't any difference in the rooms...I would still stay in one of the standard rooms. We liked Movies, even better than POP...
Even if you can't get into one of the Toy Story rooms, you could still walk over and check out the "larger than life" characters. There are tons of great photo ops at Movies! :goodvibes

We are not in our room enough to justify staying in a mod...and we really did love staying at Movies...

I agree that all the rooms inside are the same. It's just the outside of the buildings that differ. The kids would still be able to see all the Toy Story icons outside no matter where they stayed.

But kids are kids. Maybe this is something you should talk over with them if they are old enough. If the extra money is a concern, would it make you cut back on something else? That would also be a factor in your decision.

Thanks for all the replies! I guess that isn't the "only" reason..... but it is what they wanted. I think I was just feeling let down when I first heard about it. I'm going to see what they want to do...they are (or will be on the trip) 11 & 9, so YES they have an opinion....and this trip is for them. Althoguh I am pretty excited myself!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again!

Sit your kids down and talk about what would be their second choice either being either Movies but a non-preferred room, another value resort or a moderate. Make reservations at that resort. Then keep calling back to see if there is availability for their first choice, preferred view at Movies. When is your trip? If it is after September, Caribbean Beach is a fun resort for kids and it will have a brand new pool.

CSR is a great resort with a great pool/slide for the kids. Also has a playground, arcade and volleyball court right by the main pool.

In addition preferred doesn't mean Toy Story exclusively - Fantasia is also preferred as well at Dalmations. So you could get preferred and be placed elsewhere.

That said I love Movies - have stayed in all the areas and I would just go ahead and stay in a standard room there.

Each area has its advantages in my opinion.

The difference between Value Preferred, and Moderate Standard, in value season, is $54 per night plus tax.
