I called today to book Mama Melrose's for the fantasmic dinner package. They were booked solid. I wanted it for the 30th of August but no can do.
They have an opening for Holloywood and vine but i have the character Lunch with Jo Jo and i dont want to do that resturant twice. Brown derby has space but I dont know about the menu and the price. Help what should I do????

Either book Brown Derby - which is somewhat more expensive but the food looks AMAZING (I'd have gone for it if I weren't a poor college student) OR take your chances and queue. Personally if I could afford it, I'd take Brown Derby - infact, if I couldn't have gotten Mama Melrose which I managed to get OR H&V which I'd have taken as a subsititute, I think I'd have taken the more expensive Brown Derby because the extra money not only gets you a potentially better meal but not having to wait in line is worth a few $$ to me.

The menu for Brown Derby is on the wonderful allearsnet.com. The FDP costs $36.99 per adult and $10.99 per child at Brown Derby - $8 more expensive per adult than MM but the same price for kids.

We did the Brown Derby package, and it was awesome. It's pre-fixe, so you pay one price, and then order what you want off the menu. If I remember correctly (this was 3 years ago), for the set price you get appetizer, entree and dessert. Can't remember if drinks and gratuity were included. Either way, the food there is really, really good. If you go, you will definitely enjoy it.

We love BD but, with our small kids in tow, we've chosen H&V the last two times. I have never been impressed with the food but it gets the job done. It's my least fave buffet at Disney so far.

If you don't have very small kids, BD all the way!

We took our older kids there when they were 4 and 16 months. It was ok, I think it depends on your DS's temperament (my ODS would have been fine at that age). The environment was very nice for a theme park restaurant, I thought, though they had a kid's menu and there were certainly quite a few kids. Our problem was that we were on the Silver plan (previous version of the dining plan) and the service was much too leisurely for our kids. Our 16 month old got a bit restless so DH and I had to take turns walking around (outside the seating area, of course!) and, though the place wasn't crowded, the obvious trading off didn't speed up the service a bit. My kids really prefer the grab and go of the buffet or family style meals for the moment. But I can't wait to return to BD when they are a bit older!

I would call everyday from what i just read about people double booking. The BD is a nice restaurant, It is 2TS credits or you may want to pay for the FDP. It was a special price when we did it. I think $33.00 but that was a few years ago.

Must be those folks with multiple ADRs. :confused3
I know, it's just plain thinking of self. We had friends that lost their son in a car wreck. Mothers Day was terrible so they just couldn't stay home at Fathers Day. They had Never been To Disney. He came over and we found a Hotel and then spent a hour getting the ADR's. Thank God there were some decent places to eat at the last minute trip. They had a wonderful time. What if all the restaurants had been full, they had to be flexible with the times and LeCellier was open for lunch not Dinner but people need to think!!! i could get on a Soapbox on this one.

Brown Derby is fantastic. I would highly recommend this as a great evening out prior to Fantasmic! :)

What I recommend to anyone who doesn't particularly want to eat at one of the FDP restaurants for one reason or another is to skip the package and just go to Fantasmic. That is what we did in May. It was Star Wars weekend, so very busy, but I decided to take my chances without the package. We didn't go to the Fantasmic theatre until 35 minutes before 9:00, and there was no line. I don't know what time people start lining up, but if there was a line before, they had already started letting people get their seats by the time we walked up. There were plenty of good seats available. We sat in the second section from the left, and pretty high up, so that we could get out quicker. They advise you get there 30 minutes early even with the dining package. I'd hate to give this advice and then have someone shut out of a seat, but it certainly worked for us, so it's something to think about! We saved our TS credits for places we really wanted to try. Good luck!!!

I think i am going to take your advice. Thanks :thumbsup2

We just did the FDP at the BD and it was great. You could absolutely take the kids there. There were several seated next to us and they looked like they were having a great time.

I had the gazpacho, then the duck and passed on dessert because I was so full. It was all wonderful.

Enjoy!

One more thing to consider is that if it rains and Fantasmic is cancelled, there is no "rain check" if you had the FDP.

Plus as another board posted so nicely confirmed for me today, you cannot get your DDE 20% off on the package. I'll take my chances without the dinner package I suppose.

:) I called about 3 weeks ago for the Fantasmic Dinner @ MM for July 22nd. and was told they were booked solid. I called again this past Saturday and we got a 6:10 seating for that day. So they do open more spots and have cancellations. I would keep calling and checking.
