He found a hiding place after we first moved in last week and I dont know if hes there or if he somehow made it outside. :(

This is the second time hes gone missing since we got here, Im more scared this time because he never misses bedtime or morning cuddles... and he wasnt there for either.
Last week he just showed up, from the hiding place that we have yet to find.

I looked all over for him most of the night and came up empty. I was out at 4 AM *softly* calling his name and saw this little thing with a grey and white face come towards me so I thought it was him, turned out to be a bunny! :confused3

Anyway, does anyone have any ideas to bring him out or find him if he made it outside?

I tried putting some treats out and opening a can of food usually they work.

Any other ideas? Im just heartsick. :(

I've heard that you should put something that the cat "owns" like a litterbox or blanket or toy :confused3 out in the yard so that they will find it.

Also they say that quite often if a cat gets outside and is scared they won't go very far from the house. They also may not respond to you even if they normally would when you call their name.

So you have to search very carefully in bushes, under things etc as well as softly calling to them.

If he is inside he will come out eventually. He's going to get hungry or thirsty. Keep his food out and monitor if any is missing, just in case he sneaks in and out without you noticing him.

Good luck searching for him and I hope he comes out of hiding real soon.

thanks, still no sign of him anywhere :(

I really dont know what to do :(

:grouphug: :grouphug: Which one? I hope he comes back soon!

could he be stuck high up in a tree somewhere?

Not perhaps locked in a closet somewhere, got into an attic?

There are no vents that were possibly loose and crawled in there?

Hope you find him soon.

I know how you feel. Hope he comes back/out soon.

I'm so sorry. :grouphug:

This happened to my parents when they moved. They found him curled up on a rug - in a trash bag. They had an area rug they were going to throw out and he went in there to lay down since it reminded him of the old house. Search through all of the moving boxes.....maybe he found himself a little bed. Look under/in blankets - one of my cats snuggled into a folded blanket and I thought she got out.

Put some of your clothes outside. Clothes that you've worn. If he did get out during all of the commotion, the scent of your family might bring him back.

I hope you find him soon. I hate when cats hide themselves. :guilty:

I just spent an hour looking for one of my indoor cats. The little bugger did not come out when I called or "served" dinner. It was only because my first cat did this as a kitten that I even thought to look.

Between the box spring and the batting liner of the bed, look for a lump. Mine tore a hole at one end and climbed in. The first cat was little so years ago I really couldn't tell she was there - I was always afraid to sit on the bed until I found her. Now this cat - is as big as a raccoon. As much as he is trying to hide, his "lump" hangs right down onto the floor.

I also took my well behaved female cat to visit my elderly parents as a morale thing. She hid the whole time. We could not find her anywhere. You know where she was? INSIDE the lounge chair I was sitting in.

So look inside your furniture too!
Let us know what happens

I FOUND HIM!!!!

I had gone out a bit ago and checked in the shed and guess what? There he was!! :) YAY!!!!!!!!!!

He was hungry and thirsty but generally ok.

Apparently he had followed dh out to the shed last night and dh not knowing this had closed the door. It probably was a good thing actually, he was safe all night long.

The really great thing is that both of our sheds are insulated and remain cool no matter what. It was over 100 here today so that was really great. He was safe and comfortable ( though hungry and thirsty) and nothing else could get to him.

So thank you all for you good thoughts and prayers my baby is safe. Gol really makes you think... this is the second time in a week that I couldnt find him... I really love my baby kitty!

D, It was Kai the big male :)

My sister's cat used to do that when they came to visit too! We'd search and search and there she was all snuggled up and sleeping.
