Last WDW trip we paid $500 per person flying out of Pearson, I have since become wiser and learned about Buffalo, and am not willing to pay that much this time. I have been looking at kayak.com and expedia.com and I am still getting $500 per person??
There are 6 of us going...
DH & I and 4 children, 12, 4, 3 & 4 months old. We would be travelling Oct 20/21 to Oct 27/28. Can anyone help me get it cheaper? Also, I checked SWA as I have heard so much on here about them but their dates only go up to May? Also, I must have preassigned seating with so many children and oldest dd is legally blind so gets special needs seating.

Thanks in advance.

I have a friend that works for WestJet and he's always told me to hold out until some sort of sale comes. IMHO, I'd be waiting to buy your tickets because October is generally a slow month at WDW and most other Florida tourism places.

Other Canadians may be able to back me up on this but I'd wait until you saw a sale if I wuz you and you wuz I.

HTH!

I would wait for SWA, with the ages of your kids you will be able to pre-board and choose your seats all together. The 1st time I flew with them I got my tickets for $26.88 PP each way and the next time I got them for $36.88 PP per way so I would hold out for them!

I would wait for SW as well. You have lots of time and Oct is very slow at WDW. You will get a preboarding card for your older DD and you would pre board with the little ones anyway so sitting together won't be an issue.

If you want pre assigned seating you can look into AirTran and Jet Blue which has similar prices but you usually have to change planes in NYC or Atlanta.

I don't think you'll have to worry about pre-assigned seating if you're travelling with young children. Southwest permitting those travelling with you children (under 5 i think) as well as those needing extra time boarding (your son) to preboard. As long as you're preboarding you'll have no difficulty getting seats all together.

We've gone in October and November and I agree with the advice to wait until Southwest releases its fares and then book. I haven't gotten a fare as low as $35USD each way but we've gotten $50USD each way per person.

We fly Jet Blue. Its not horrible changing planes in NY its all the same terminal at JFK its very easy to navigate. As for Jet Blue they only have prices out till sept right now, give them another month and you should see prices come up for then. We got Jet blue to Orlando for $59 a person and we got to select our seats when we purchased. And like a lot of airlines, they do pre-board people with small children and those who need a little extra time. :)

You should be able to get excellent rates with SW. SW booking for late October should open up sometime around May/June. Check regularly so you don't miss it. As others have noted...you will be able to pre-board you entire family and therefore sit together (no worries there). I believe Air Tran just added (effective January '07) one non-stop flight from Buf to Orl each day (mid afternoon I believe). I think Air Tran is currently only booking into September '07. SW will still likely be the cheapest in the end. Good luck :goodvibes

First off you are way too early.......

seondly I always fly Southwest and always pay $110. pp RETURN.

The niceset thing about Southwest is this, if the price goes down from the time you purchase it, you get a flight credit, to use toward another fligth.

please feel free to email me directly if you need more info.

The whole key to the flight deal thing is don't panic. As the airlines review their passenger loads the prices will go up, go down, go up and go down. If the seats aren't selling then price drops. Prices drops, seats sell fast, price goes up. There is no graduated scale that increases the price as you get closer to your departure day. Usually when your even 1-2 months away, the airlines(esp in your case) will be slitting each others throats to get your business. As others have said, check often(daily, sometimes 2x) with Southwest. Once their ressie system includes your dates then jump on those prices like a buzzard on a carcus. You can also sign up for Spirit as they have 1 cent sales etc.

southwest won'y usually come up as an option with kayak or expedia...must book thru their site directly

I've been checking flights for a while now for a family trip to WDW and Ft. Lauderdale next July. AirTran has by far had the best prices. I booked for 6 of us yesterday and including taxes and insurance paid just over $1600 US for all of us. That is flying into MCO and returning out of FLL. I tried to find a price for you but they aren't quoting Oct yet. Wait a bit and try again in about a month. It's way too early to be panicing.

O.k. so more questions......

I have found great rates for rental vehicles and have found a recommended property on the Windsor Hills resort for a reasonable price. Should I book now and just expect that finding a flight won't be a problem?
Sorry if I sound silly, but last time an agent did it all for me, and I am worried that if Ii book all else I won't find a flight - is that unreasonable? Should I just book it?

I'd like to run the rates by you all....

* Minivan for Oct 20-27 with mousesavers code I have a total of $300 taxes in umlimited miles.
* Rental Townhome in resort community with private splash pool plus access to club house with large pool and waterslide and park - $ 900 taxes in.

Again, thanks so very much!

I'd go ahead and book it, then keep any eye on all the rental car sites for better deals. As long as you didn't give them a credit card number, you can cancel if something better comes up. Just remember to cancel if one does.

Delta out BUF is showing a flight for 178.00 round trip for those dates. Just checked their website now!

try using sidestep.com - it will search out of Toronto and Buffalo all at the same time (as long as you tick off "alternative airports").

I've flown out of BUF in Oct '06 and Oct '05. In both instances I booked my hotel first (Free Dining !), and then airfare. I didn't book air tickets until July (in 2006) and Aug (in 2005). Air fare paid (including taxes) was $160 cdn per person.

Seeking the best air fare, is like watching the stock market. You have to do your research to ensure you know when the low price will hit the market (I've found summer is the best time for fall travel).

check out spirit airlines for your dates and for a total of 5 (i don't know if they count the 8 month old $1196.00 (including taxes) this is for flying out of detroit and to orlando non stop and return.

Hello,

Looking for a direct (and inexpensive way to get to WDW) from Ottawa in June. Does anyone know of any direct flights from Ottawa to Orlando in June? Also, I see SW mentioned on some threads, is this just from the U.S.?

Thanks

I seriously consider flying out of Buffalo ( great prices) but I just booked with Westjet $139. + taxes. Direct flights 2.5 hrs. I didn't want to connect flights and chance any delays.

It's the taxes that can more than double that price. That's the reason so many of us now use Buffalo instead, where the taxes are so much lower. Add to that the reasonable long term parking rates and you've got a winner.
