This is our 3rd trip to WDW. After #1, I decided to get a Disney Visa.
Trip #2 - Cashed out a good bit of Disney dollars as well as using my Rewards card. Great Success
Trip #3 JUST got home! Days 1 & 2, I visited City Hall and redeemed $50 on each of 2 cards several times throughout the day (we had $800 to spend in 3 days and it was 3 of us, so I wanted to make sure everyone had enough money to go around.). I think the total of Disney Dollars we cashed out of the rewards card was somewhere in the area of $500 the first two days.
Yesterday afternoon, I visit City Hall for the last time to cash out my dollars and head to Epcot for our last evening. CM#1: "We don't cash out Disney Dollars from rewards cards." My response: "I've been here for 3 days and have made at least 5 trips and received $50 each card each visit." She went to check with a higher CM. Same responses from him, and mine as well. He went to speak with his manager and his manager came out. "We don't exchange Disney Dollars for rewards card balances." My response was the same. CMMgr: "That is like a cash advance and we have never done that the 4 years I've been here." I was highly aggravated because this is the MOST bizarre thing that's ever happened to me in Disney. Nope. Wouldn't do it.
So Officially: You can NOT redeem Disney Visa Rewards Dollars off your card for Disney Dollars.
Am I going CRAZY!?!?!

I don't know the answer to this but I thought I bump it so it can be moved to the right place. Maybe then you may an answer. :)

I'm going to find a better place for this - in trip reports, you may not get an answer. Good luck.

I also wonder if you can still order your rewards in disney dollars directly from the rewards center? I had read somewhere in the past that you could for a $10 fee. They mail the Disney Dollars to you. Has all of this changed?

Disney Dollars are ONLY sold at WDW and DLR now. Nowhere else. So I doubt the redemption center could get their hands on them at all.

I remember seeing your threads about this in May. While it's odd that you were able to do it a couple times, and then you weren't, it's possible the people who gave them to you at the beginning just weren't aware that it had changed. There are always employees who won't read their emails, or the notices, or pay attention to things, until they've been doing it wrong and it finally comes to the attention of a manager. And now it has definitely come to the attention of a manager!
