can't decide...Poly or BC

We've been to Disney many times so I am not sure why I can't decide which hotel. I am going with DH and my three teens and no one is helping me make the decision. We are going on the Dream and spending two nights in Disney afterward. Here's my scoop...

Poly-great location, done the CR many times so don't want to do it again, but love the MK area. We love the Poly restaurants and being able to watch and listen to the fireworks on the beach is fabulous! We would book a standard room. Also, I know these rooms are larger.

BC- We would book a lagoon/pool view. We will be celebrating our 20th anniversary this trip and we took our honeymoon at the YC. Don't love the restaurants but love the pool area, beach and Boardwalk area.

I know that at least part of my family will go to the MK to see Fantasyland, but we are undecided on the other day(s). I think my DH and one son might sit by a pool or waterpark for a day. Or we could end up at AK or Epcot. I am trying to decide by next Wednesday before the new packages come out. Any opinions would be appreciated

I can completely understand how hard of a decision this is; I too, love both resorts. In my opinion though, I think BC would be perfect, seeing how it is also your 20th anniversary and the connection to YC. And of course, you cannot beat the pool for the boys.

Having stayed at both, my choice would be the Poly. We had a great stay at the BC, but we love the Poly for the tropical atmosphere, the beach for watching the fireworks, Captain Cooks for quick snacks or meals while relaxing at the pool, the larger rooms, and the volcano pool (which we actually like better than SAB).

My experience with our teen son and his friends, an Epcot area resort is a good choice. So much is accessible by walking, Epcot, MGM (sorry! I will forever call it that), Boardwalk area with ESPN club and even Swan and Dolphin for additional dining options and Fantasia Gardens mini-golf as well.

BC hands down. There is so much to do and enjoy within walking distance. Two parks, the boardwalk, loads of dining options, and the best pool:thumbsup2

We have stayed at both. It clearly is a personal choice/preference. The key items for us relate to the theme and location. Besides the resort theme providing its own vibe, there is clearly a difference in the feel/magic of the resort areas (MK vs Boardwalk/Epcot). There are pros and cons to each. We find the BC management to be more responsive to resort guest and the resort grounds and facilities less likely to be swarmed by non-guest; especially when it comes to the resort pool.

does the poly have a daybed in the double rooms like the other resorts? i don't remember seeing one on our last stay. that could be an issue with 5 people.

Yes Poly rooms all have a daybed.

I love both, and have even done a split stay between the 2! For 5 people I'd choose Poly for the size of the room & a guaranteed daybed - at BC it isn't guaranteed. Overall the Poly room is bigger than BC too.

If it were 4 people or less, I'd choose BC for the location - being able to walk to 2 parks & The Boardwalk is invaluable to me!

Flip a coin!

When i stayed at Poly last year, we had 2 queen beds and a daybed.

I am in the same dilemma.

I stayed at the BC when it first opened up (around 1990) & loved it. That was pre-boardwalk!! But I haven't been back since.

I have stayed at the Poly many more times & with kids it is just easier for me/us.

I was thinking of a split but it all came down to the fact that I'd miss the monorail, the view of the castle & the sounds of the Seven Seas Lagoon (ie boats) & the MK.

As much as I know my kids would love the BC pool, my youngest will be 7 when we go, my oldest will be 12, remembers the Poly pool & loved it (she was 7 when we went last). My son could care less as long as there is a pool. Plus I can sit & basically watch my kids in the entire Poly pool which I can't at the BC.

Good luck. I am 99% sure I am doing the Poly in August 2013.

Honestly, I think it comes down to comfort in the room at night. With 5 people in BC it might be a bit tight. Then again u did mention that you would prefer to be at Epcot.

I would say that the Poly is a bit more romantic of a setting for an anniversary and you have a short walk to ttc if you want to hop the monorail to Epcot.

Whatever you choose have a great trip
