Hi Everyone,

I was told about his website in Simons book (very informative btw!) and thought you would be able to help.

I am going to dlp in October this year and was supposed to be booking the hotel today, however I just can't decide on a hotel. I really like the look of disneyland hotel and the newport bay hotel. I'm travelling with my husband and 5 year old son and think I would like the disney land hoel because;

1) it is close to the entrance therefore no walking home with a grumpy boy at the end of the day
2) I think he would like the charater breakfast
3) the public areas look lovely
4) its expensive so must be nice! ;-)

and newport bay because:
1) the bedrooms look nicer
2) fab looking swimming pool
3) cheaper so we could afford a more expensive hotel in paris for the rest of our stay

Is there anyone here who has been to both and can recommend one over the other? Or has any reasons that I haven't though of for choosing one over another?

Thanks

PP

Hi

It's so hard to choose between those two - they're my two favourites! Which ever one you choose I'm almost certain you'll enjoy your stay.

I would go for Newport Bay Club if:
*Swimming is high on your priorities list (great pool, however seen as you are planning to visit in October, I think the fantastic outdoor section will be closed)
*You don't mind a bit of a walk every morning (around 10-15 mins)

Disneyland Hotel:
*If you have elderly guests with you or young children (great location!)
*You enjoy amazing dining (two fantastic restaurants, altough Newport Bay has a good one too :) )

Although the rooms may look nicer at Newport Bay Club, I can assure you that the rooms at The Disneyland Hotel are much bigger and wonderfully decorated with nicer bathrooms. Newport Bay Club's rooms are still nice, but smaller. Also, Newport Bay Club is a HUGE hotel and you may have to hike a fair distance to your room.

The Disneyland Hotel's Swimming Pool is nice, but quite small and with no extra 'facilities' (like a slide) for children, like at Newport Bay or Seqouia Lodge.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask away.

HTH

Richard :)

Disneyland Hotel hands down.

The proximity of this hotel to the attractions far outweighs anything else in my opinion.

Thanks for your replies.

After reading them and discussing with husband, we decided to go for newport bay but get a room on the admirals floor and use the extra money we would have spent on disneyland hotel upgrading our hotel in paris. the swimming pool is very important to our 5 year old and I realy don't mind the 10-15 minute walk (in fact aafter al the food I uintend toeat, I will probably need the walk everyday!).

I'd love to see the disneyhotel tthough. are non residents allowed to go to the restaurant and piano bar there?

Thanks again
PP

You'll have a great time on The Admirals Floor at NPBC.

Yes, non residents are allowed to visit The Disneyland Hotel.

Richard :)

OK all of those voting for the Disneyland Hotel......................give me more reasons why and knock me off the fence. We will be there next summer and will use DVC points. At first I was leaning towrds the Newport Bay Club. It would require 48 fewer points to stay there than it would to stay at the Disneyland Hotel. Those 48 points could cover 4 or more nights at WDW on another trip or provide up to $480 in rental income. What is so great about the Disneyland Hotel that I should invest the extra points. The location of the Disneyland Hotel is big, and it seems to be the flagship DLP resort............but give me more nuts and bolts specifics as to why we will enjoy staying there so much more than the Newport Bay. We will have our three young children (ten months to five years) with us. I was thinking the pool at the Newport Bay would be a big draw, but with only two full days at DLP I wonder how much we would actually use the pool. Anyone know how late the pools are open?

Please help me make this decision for what is probably going to be the first and only trip to DL Paris. Of course, since this is a one time deal that is all the more reason to splurge on the nicer resort.....................if there is that big a difference. Convince me that there is ;).

LOL Disneykidds - you'll just LOVE the Disneyland Hotel.

Imagine it now, sitting in The California Grill or Inventions restaurant, sitting right by the window, with a simply awe-inspiring view of Main Street USA with some gastronomic food. When you wake up in the morning, in under 5 minutes you can be standing inside Disneyland looking up at the castle. At night-time if you leave your window slightly open, you'll hear the Main Street USA music playing to past midnight. Honestly though, it is definitely money/DVC Points very well spent - I have been a few times now and can't fault in one little way at all. Are you staying on Castle Club, in a Suite or in a Standard Room? I have some great room numbers you could request.

The pool is open until around 9pm (or a bit later?) as far as I can remember.

Have a great countdown !

Richard. :)

Thanks Richard, that's the kind of mental picture I am looking for to seal the deal :).

As for rooms, I have no idea what kind of a room you get when you use DVC points. I guess I'd assume it would be a standard room. Does anybody know?

Well, I think all the rooms are similar aside from standard hotel classifications (single, double, twin, triple, family, suite etc.) and you're not going to get a suite unless you pay more points and ask for it.

We got a free upgrade from the hotel New York to the Disneyland Hotel because they lost our reservation... We got the impression the upgrade was as a direct result of having the old DVC card on display at the time of check in - maybe we'd have not been switched to the better hotel if we'd not been DVC members?

Just my experience.

DisneyKidds,

We are off to the Disneyland Hotel in 3 weeks time, again useing points for our stay. Do you know that the points in all DLP hotels, we are able to book have shot up since October!!! We are going in the value season and 4 nights mid week is now 60 points a night!!! 84 for the weekend.
Peak season is now 84 per night on any day of the week. Boo Hoo!!!

This is 22 point a night up on last seasons prices! Not Happy!!
