Can't decide: Cypress Pointe or Silver Lake?

We are going back to Disney in September and I have Skyauction certificates to use. There will be 8 of us traveling, me, dh, mil, sil and our 4 kids. I could get all of us in one 2 bedroom unit at Silver Lake but I think we'll be happier and more comfortable if I at least get 2 units, maybe 1 bed unit and then a 2 bed unit. Or maybe I should get 2 bed units for both, I don't know at this point I am overwhelmed. I cannot choose between Cypress Pointe Grande Villas or Silver Lakes though. Silver Points isn't an option since we aren't checking in on Sunday but I don't know if that matters? Looks like either place we could end up with a bad room so I suppose it's luck of the draw. Location wise seems to be a wash too because they are both close, just at opposite ends. Planned activities aren't a big deal because we will be at Disney most of the time. Mainly, I need a comfortable bed and a clean, nonsmelly room. Anyone stayed at both and know which one is my better bet?

Also, this will be my mil and sil's first visit to Disney so I want their trip to be nice. I'm afraid I'm going to end up in a dump and they are going to blame me. I'm pickier than they are though so if I'm happy I'm sure they will be too.

neither place is a dump.

can you find a 3-bedroom at Cypress Pointe - that might work.

if you are using certificates and a 2-bedroom comes up that will work for you - grap it.

See that's the problem. 2 bedrooms are coming up for both places on my dates. I can't seem to find the one thing that makes one win out over the other.

We've previously stayed at the Vistana Lakes section and Orlando International Resort Club and were pleased with both places. The latter was further than we wanted to be but it was just a couple of weeks ago so during peak season I couldn't be too picky. But it was clean with comfy beds and a nice place overall.

Cypress Pointe is in LBV area which is important to me.

herc.

We've stayed at both several years ago. I think you would be happy at either.

I think I preferred the location of Silver Lake because it is right near Animal Kingdom and a quick in and out to Disney property. But Cypress Pointe is also close by and I think I would pick that one.

The rooms are very nice. We had a 3 bedroom which was basically a studio with a 2 bedroom. From what I remember the second bedroom was miniscule. You literally had a bed and dresser in it..not much room at all.

Silver Lake when we were there was all tile and mirrors. I didn't like the cold feeling I got from there. But I think they have done renovations so that could be all changed now.

The pool areas were pretty much the same from what I remember.

My vote is for Cypress Pointe I guess.

Have a great trip no matter what you choose!

When I logged in this morning there was a 3 bedroom at Cypress Pointe Resort (not the Grande Villas) so I grabbed it. Thanks for suggestions!

just wanted to add that RCI's website states that not all units at Silver Lake have washer/dryer in them. That would be a big deciding factor for me.:goodvibes
Also CP was recently remodeled so I think you should have nothing to be embarassed about with your travel group.

there will be a king bed in the master, a queen sleeper sofa in the livingroom, 2 twin beds plus a trundle in the second bedroom, a queen bed in the 3rd bedroom.

all have baths.

the first and third connect to the bedrooms. - so just kept the bedroom door closed when using it.

the second goes to the hall. there is closet on the other side of the wall here - that is the washer/dryer. they are small so definitely bring detergent and fabric softernor.

it is a nice area - you can walk to a grocery store - Winnie Dixie - closer is a convenience store in the mall across the street.

the kids will like the pool - it has a slide - nothing great - but definitely fine for kids.

you can also walk to restuarant, drug store (walgreens), shopping.

Cypress Pointe has great activities for the kids (we stayed at CPGV, but they both have them). My DD is in college, so they didn't interest her ;) , but she would have loved them when she was younger. :thumbsup2

we've stayed at both properties - Silver Lake (on the SP side) a couple of years ago, and Cypress Pointe this past April. We would return to either property, but choosing between the two based on location? We'd choose Cypress Pointe. No specific reason, really ... but we did prefer the area surrounding CP better. We really liked the newness of Silver Points, but that isn't a consideration for you.
