Can't decide between Concierge BC/YC or Deluxe Dining Plan.

Hello. I'm planning an 8 day trip for next May and it's in the very early stages. I was hoping for some help. This trip is for me (plan on using the military rate once they renew it) and my girlfriend who has never been to anything but Magic Kingdom about 15 years ago when she was a little kid. I know that I want to do a Beach/Yacht Club or Boardwalk Inn room but have a decision to make. Would it be better to do a concierge room and do the Plus Dining Plan or do a standard room with a Deluxe Dining Plan? Any help would be great!

I think it depends on what kind of a trip you are wanting. I would pick club level just because we don't like to be on a right schedule and don't want to have to worry about a lot of ADRs. But there would be some really great meals if you want to do a lot of sit down restaurants. We love club level at BCR.

Are you sure you want to do a dining plan at all? I looked up doing mostly a quick grab of something in the parks during the days and a sit down "fancy" meal every night and the pricing didn't really come close.

We ended up doing the Boardwalk Club Level and no dining plan. That way if we happen to grab some breakfast or small lunch on club level we dont feel as if we are wasting our money not using the dining plan.

Look up the places you are going to eat, think about what you probably would order and do the math. Most likely you will want to skip the dining plan.

If you plan on doing a lot of signature meals, I would go with the DlxDDP; otherwise, we find the regular DDP to be plenty. A lot of people feel that doing CL with any DDP is alot of food, but we do a sit down dinner every night regardless of whether or not we stay CL, so the DDP is nice to have. Also, when we stay CL, it's more for the convenience of having the lounge for someplace to sit and relax other than hanging out in the room or other places around the resort. The food offerings and drinks are a nice perk and sometimes we're around the resort to take advantage of them and sometimes not, but since that's not our main reason for staying CL, we are fine with it. With that said, I would choose which DDP according to where/what you like to eat. Good luck and happy planning .

We've done BC CL and the regular DDP many times. We would usually have a quick breakfast in the CL lounge, cs lunch and appetizers in the lounge and a ts dinner. Sometimes we switch it up and have a ts lunch and cs dinner.

This year we are doing BC CL and no ddp since our kids are "disney adults". Instead we are using the TIW card (AP holders). I think this will definitely give us more flexibility of order 2 appertizers and getting an appetizer and splitting an entree and dessert.

We prefer CL with no dining plan (but we do have 1-2 light sit down meals per day), but it really depends on what you want.

CL will give you the convenience of a light breakfast, drinks, snacks, and dinner apps and dessert in the lounge. You don't get a large meal, nor do you get a dining experience. Also, you have to be in the resort to get the food. Nevertheless, I personally prefer it.

DlxDP will give you dining experiences, large sit down meals, etc. in and out of the parks. You will get to pick time, place and food (CL is a mini-buffet, but they have what they have and that's it). This will also take more of your time than a quick breakfast in the lounge.

So it just depends on what kind of experience you are looking for. I think if you figure out what kind of food/how many restaurant meals you really want that that will show you which one to choose.

I always book the room and then apply the discount (AP in our case) when they are released. Never had a problem.

As long as the resort/room type you have booked is available under the military discount, you can have that discount applied. Having a reservation already in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied, so sometimes you have to be flexible with your resort in order to take advantage of a discount. Also, if you book just the room now and want to add the DDP later, the room only will have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked. I know military can book room + DDP without the ticket requirement, but having the DDP makes it a package and since room only and packages are different reservation systems, money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other. With that said, if you know for sure you want the DDP, it's probably best to wait until the 2014 rates and military discount come out to book.
