I can't believe this, but I can't choose where to stay for our next trip. We're hoping for next January sometime, hopefully. We have to wait to plan until DH finds out about his vacation time bid.

We have only ever stayed at "home" at OKW. We love it, and DH is actually worried that he'll be sorry we're not at OKW if we stay somewhere else, but I'm committed to trying something new.

We have some extra points to play with, too, which is fun.

Choices:

DD adores giraffes, and wants to be a zookeeper someday, so I'm tempted by AKV.

We all love amusement parks & the atmosphere of BWV looks fun, active, and festive, just our style.

Can't imagine anything being better than BLT, with a MK view and the ability to WALK to our favorite park.

Anyone want to weigh in? Where should we stay, pretending that we won't have any trouble booking at 7 months? :surfweb:

Hmmmm....maybe don't venture too far from "home" and stay at SSR. That way you can still walk along the canal to OKW to visit. SSR is so close to DTD via their walkways and I just love having the spa/fitness center so close. Also, The Turf Club has really turned into one great dining experience.

But let's face it, you can't go wrong no matter where you decide to go. So many resorts...so little time. :thumbsup2

My advice is to try for BLT, AKV & then BWV in that order.

Everyone should give staying at a monorail resort a try. Even this die-hard BW lover enjoyed that, LOL. If you are used to having a car, parking is surprisingly easy and convenient here. The TOTWL is a wonderful perk and the fireworks views up there are different from the MK, but still impressive. Stay in a 1 bedroom if you can swing the points.

AKV also has convenient parking (hate to harp on that, but if you love OKW, my sense is that you will have a car and love parking right outside your unit). Go for the savanna view and see for yourselves if the animal watching from your balcony is something you value. Haven't stayed there, but have got to imagine it's pretty special.

I love BWV and feel a little guilty putting it last. But again, the parking is not convenient and it can be tough to self park during certain times. The resort just doesn't consider guest parking to be a priority and only polices it when absolutely necessary - and even then - Anyway, we do not usually have a car and find the location very convenient, but EPCOT is our favorite park and we walk. Kids seem to love the pool and slide and the Community Hall is a wonderful perk.

The good news is that no matter which you choose, you will enjoy the stay. You'll undoubtedly miss OKW, but you will have many future opportunities to return. :)

It really is a hard decision. We just came home from a crazy split stay, but we decided not to go to Vero Beach at the last minute, and took what was available. We stayed at BC one night, BW for two nights, and OKW the last three. Take BW only if you love to walk and don't mind maybe parking your car and not seeing it for a couple of days because it is so far away and so inconvenient. We had a room that was the furthest away from the elevator. So it was a good walk just to get to the elevator. Then you get to the lobby and walk again to the self park parking lot. I wonder if anyone has ever measured the distance. On the upside, with all the nice restaurants on the boardwalk and either a short boat ride or walk to Epcot and/or Hollywood Studios, you probably won't need your car anyway. We were very happy to get back to OKW, but we wanted to at least sample all the DVC resorts. AKV savannah view is nice, but the rooms are smaller. If you get a one bedroom though, you get that extra bathroom and that is nice. Our favorite is still OKW, with AKV running a close second. We haven't tried BLT yet. If you were able to try somewhere else, I would go ahead and do it, just because you can. Although we still love OKW the best, we were very happy trying the other resorts.

If it were me, this would be the perfect reason to do a split stay. Stay one or two nights at a new place (I recommend AKV, only because I love it there), then move to your tried and true OKW. That's what I've always done when I want to try a new resort-stay only one or two nights, then transfer to a resort that I know I love. That way, if I don't like the new resort, I'm not "stuck" there for the whole trip. And if I do like it, I can return there for an entire trip in the future. I've done that many, many times, trying out BWV, AKV, SSR, and OKW for a night or two for the first time I stayed there.
