Can't cancel or modify online?

Is anyone else having this problem? I just want to cancel a reservation for July at the GCV, but I keep getting the seven dwarves! I don't really want to call right now with everytihing going on, but would like my points back in my account so I can make another reservation beforea all the fall rooms are gone from people rescheduling! The sys tem won't let me modify the reservation to different dates, I am still getting the Dwarves! Unfortunately, I think I am going to have to sit on hold!! If any one has had this problem, or has a suggestion I would love to hear it!

If by "checked in", you mean completed online check in, that has ZERO impact on being able to cancel. The status of points that are returned is up to MS.
 
I tried to modify but it said my returned points would go into holding... no!
 

I canceled on line for next week and the points did NOT go into holding. The borrowed ones were not returned to their original use year, however. I can live with that.
 
DH canceled our online while I tried calling. The canceled points went into holding. When I was able to get through to Member Services they moved the points back into our Aug 20 use year and banked the others. It took 50 minutes of holding (on top of 45 minutes of redialing) to get through, then hold and back as they updated me on what was being done on their end.
 
I cant get through on phone and dont want to do anything online that could cause points to go into holding.
 
We canceled our March 14 to March 20 DVC resort reservation due to coronavirus concerns. I did not call to cancel. I did it online via the DVC website. Our points went into a holding account, even though it says in their statement they will not. I'm guessing member services will have to manually move them out of the holding account. ?? I sent an email inquiring about it (no response yet), but plan to call as well.

Follow up to my note above. I was able to reach a Disney cast member today, March 14, 2020 via the chat option. Sanibel was extremely friendly and helpful. Within that 3 minute chat, the points were taken out of holding and put back into their original use year (some were current use year, and some had been borrowed). We have already booked our next trip.

Nothing is being done with banked points. So, they will be returned without the holding status, but they will still expire at the end of the UY of this trip.

They will not allow points to be banked a 2nd time.

thanks! I was hoping that they would make a one time exception. We never dreamed this would happen. every year we bank a few over to the next year and we take our trip in April. we wont make it in May and didnt want to lose this whole vacation and some points too. I am not sure the parks will even reopen by April 3rd. So awful.

At least if you have current UY or borrowed points, the holding penalty is being waved, and they are even Putting borrowed points back. So at least it’s not a total loss,

If you can’t use the banked points, try offering them for rent. Granted, we don’t know what will happen, but I’d resorts stay open, there could be someone who wants to just do resorts.

I will call again in the AM. May 31 would be when they expire, and it is 45 points... ughhh I have been holding out thinking they will be up and running and parks open but something tells me the closure will end up being extended.
