Can't book excursion for 2 year old?

Hey cruise pros... how would you approach the following: I'm booking our Alaska excursions for this summer and I'm unable to add my son, 2, to some of them. Checking directly with the vendors, I was able to confirm that there was no lower age limit on these tours, and that it looks like Disney is simply not allowing him to be booked because there's no cost for him. Am I safe to show up to the excursion without him on the reservation, or is there some way to call and and have him added manually by an agent?

Is it that there is no charge or that Disney does not allow under 2s? Even if the vendor would allow under 2s if booked separately, their contract with Disney may not allow it.

I would just book separately in this case (and I am not one who says this lightly) or if you do show up with the tot be fully prepared for them not to be allowed as all seats would be accounted for with other guests.

I'm pretty sure that if DCL doesn't charge for the kids it shows $0 for their excursion fare and you still include them. So if DCL isn't allowing the little one to be booked on the reservation, DCL isn't allowing little ones to attend that excursion. I think that's one of the common complaints about Alaska cruises on DCL is the lack of port adventures that include the little ones. It likely has something to do with their liability insurance. Showing up with the child is likely to result in their refusal to allow you to attend, along with loss of the excursion fare. As PP says, if you can book it privately to include the little one you may want to explore that option.

I called and talked to a cast member (no hold times right now if you need anything!) and he said I was good to go, but I'm still nervous. But this looks pretty clear:

It likely wouldn’t be an issue, but in a 100% full excursion, it could mean the child wouldn’t have their own seat and would have to be a lap child.

I also have a 2 yo booked on an Alaskan cruise and only 1 of our excursions had a cost for the 2yo so that’s the only one he is officially booked on. We confirmed we were good to go on all the excursions we booked. He may be on a lap on some of the excursions

I had an excursion like this on a western Caribbean cruise. I called as well and they told me not to worry, it was because there was no charge. We had no problems at all getting off the ship.

But this looks pretty clear:
Agree! Sorry, I misunderstood. Sometimes DCL has an age limit even if the vendor does not in which case you’d have to book privately. I thought that was the situation in question. This excursion clearly states the young ones are no charge

We had the same concern -- we couldn't book for our one year old for "free" excursions, even though the age of 0-2 was allowed. We were able to book for the ones that had a separate charge (anything on a boat requires a ticket even for 0-2). Glad to have it confirmed that the 0-2 can still go with us on the others!

Oh good, the exact question I was looking for. I had the same issue when booking at 2 year old on a Skagway excursion as well. I'd like to confirm when I can get through to DCL (had to hang up today after 40 minutes) but it's good to know others have already checked into it.
