Can't book a ressie in 2009??

I'm sure there is a thread somewhere about this but I can't find it. I went to the WDW website to check prices for a Jan, 2009 vacation and it tells me I can't book beyond 12/31/08 - when did this happen? I used to be able to book a year in advance or longer. Do I need to call direct or can I book through AAA this far in advance? Thanks!!

You can make reservations now by calling WDW directly. The 2009 rates are not out yet so you will be quoted a price for the highest rate for your room at 2008 prices and then they will be adjusted when the prices for 2009 come out next month. You will also have to pay your downpayment of one night stay at this years highest rate. The online reservation system is only available to make reservations for the next year after the rates have been officially released. I believe you can call and make reservations up to 500 days in advance. I called in June to make mine already for next June with no problems. Also, AAA rates are not out yet either so you would not be able to get that discount yet. They also should come out at the beginning of Aug. I am waiting for those to come out so I can call and try to get AAA applied to my current reservation.

You can book room only now, which as the pp stated, will be quoted at the highest room rate for 2008 and then will be adjusted when the 2009 rates are released (sometime in August). But if you're looking to book a package, that can't be done until the 2009 prices are released. If you want to get an idea of cost, try going online like you're booking a room only arriving 12/31/08 and departing in January 2009.......this will give you a breakdown of what the nightly cost is (although 12/31 will be at the 2008 holiday rate ). Then price the same resort, same time frame (value, regular, peak, etc) for 2008 to see if the price changed any. I tried this the other day for the BC and got a $10 difference (higher) for the January 2009 dates vs. the 2008 dates. Not sure how accurate that is, but 2008 was showing $325/night and January 2009 was showing $335/night .
