I was just listening to the RI radio station that sponsored the Great White show at the place that burned the other day and they said, the singer for the band has just made a statement that his heart goes out to the families and the member of the band that they lost but that they will get a new guitar player and continue their tour WITHIN A FEW DAYS!! The DJ said she couldn't believe it. These people are crazy!!! Talk about heartless!

That does sound extremely heartless. . :(

I would hope they at least forego setting off any pyrotechnics from now on. . but you never know. .

I don't know all the facts, but I guess I am on a different side here. First let me say that I am horrified by what happened, and simply can not get my mind off the footage that I have seen on tv. I was at a firestation today for DD's preschool and I was so sad and almost in tears thinking about that tragedy. With that said, and I don't know all the facts here, but this is their job, and they have bills to pay and food to put on the table too. This is their chosen profession and have to get back to work. If they had expressed no sympathy or concern, then I would agree it is heartless, but not because they have to get back to work.

That's really weird. At first I thought of The Who. John Entwistle died and the rest of the band continued on with their tour. But this is a whole different thing. Innocent fans lost their lives - it seems very crude to just brush it off and go on as normal right away.:(

maybe i am missing something, but why is it heartless for them to continue touring?

renting out the halls costs lots of money and if they cancel, they could be out A LOT of money. this is their livelihood.

The band has promises to keep. Something that bugs me in the newspaper, everyone is calling fireworks by its fancy name, pyrotechnics. I think if people realized we are talking about fireworks then some common sense might prevail. Why are we using fireworks inside in the first place???

Also contractual obligations from the touring company, record company, touring manager seems that they need to do these things.

It is unfortunate that they lost a group member.. however, how difficult is it to find another guitar player? Is there many "starving Musicians" out there, waiting for thier "big break"?

I know many semi professional musicians that would jump at the chance to get on board with a touring gig like that...

Yes, sad, but true.

As sad as this is that it happened, I guess I can see why they would continue their tour. I don't see it as heartless really beacause sometimes the only thing that gets you past heavy amounts of grief is a sense of normalcy.

I guess by some of your standards, I would be seen as heartless to have performed in a school concert the night my mom died (and after I knew she had). To me, it was a great tribute and honor to sing for her knowing how she loved music the way I did.

I also think its sad but they have wifes and children and like someone said renting out the halls and selling tickets etc. takes a lot of money. They are under contract.....and again as sad as it is life must go on.

I do hope they make some kind of acknoledgement personally to the families though. Whether or not its monetary or personl I would hope that each of the families hear not only from the band but the club owners.
