Can't believe they excluded POR!

My apologies - I was not quoting you to quote you specifically until the one with the question. I just think that too many people on this board are making excuses and blaming Disney for this situation when the only people who had the power to avoid it are the people who booked. Still, I should stop preaching.

If POR is the only place where a family can afford to pay full price, and no free dining is released, there is a chance they get to take no trip at all. I can understand saying that one should not book ahead then complain when there is no free dining. But I think it's taking it a little far to tell families they should take the chance of no Disney trip at all in order to increase the chances of free dining at POR for everyone.

When I was checking POR for our travel dates there were only 2 room categories available, now after DV FD has come out every category is open except for standard. Just shows you how many people had pre booked their rooms hoping for FD.

I wonder how much the 180 ADR booking has to do with things? I know my friends are going and I am handling all the arrangements for them. I booked them at POR because that was their first choice of resort. Their dates are somewhat flexible and their resort choice is flexible. They were hoping for some sort of discount, though they are going with or without one. We could have waited to book, but needed a resort reservation so that we could make dining reservations at 180 days.

I'm going to check their backup dates/resorts to see if free dining will be available to them tomorrow. If it is, then they're probably going to change resorts and will cancel POR. I don't know what we could have done differently, other than give up the 180 day ADR booking. I hate that it's 180 days out. People's travel plans are often not firmed up at that point, mine included. I know many planners like it, but I am not one of them. If ADRs opened up at 90 days out then I could have waited to reserve their room.

I agree, and I never once suggested that. In fact, I said that people who book at POR knowing that they are going to stay there no matter what have done the best thing to ensure their vacation needs are met and owe no one an apology.

I never thought of that. Thanks for the tip. I'll keep it in mind if this situation ever arises again.

Pin codes for free dining at POR are out. I will see in the morning if Guest relations calls me back with the deal they hinted at. We will see if my leverage worked or not. My advice call and see if you have a code. If you do not ask to speak to GL and explain the problem. Who knows they might find a code attached to your name after all.

We will never know for sure but it was the phone call. Call and explain the situation and see what happens. I see where you're coming from... in all the years PINs have been available, I've never got one, then suddenly, I started getting some earlier this year.
It's unfortunate that I "don't" want FD for POR or POFQ, yet somehow, I got the PIN for it, while others are hoping for it and don't get it

I called and asked if I could just get a RO discount and they gave it to me instead of the FD PIN.

My advice would be to very politely call and say that you are hoping there will be an FD discount package for POR and do they know if there are any PINs or discounts coming out soon as you don't want to miss out (if you are in the system, they will be able to tell if you are a repeat customer... they knew about every trip we had taken in the past 10 years).

Wish I could have given you my POR FD code, but it doesn't work that way.
