has anyone heard if there are compatiblilty issues? i can't download from the memory card ( tried it plugged into the hub and into the port directly) from in camera via the usb port ( rebel xt) nor will it work from my memory card reader but can download to zoom browser via the hp printer memory card port (as long as the hp director is open). trying to figure out if something is wrong with the usb port ( can't find anything to try it with that i am sure is working but when i switch the printer to that usb port the printer still works), card reader, camera usb cable or all of the above. there is a setting in the camera menu ( last little tool icon)that says "communication") not sure what it is for really but and has "pc connection" or "ptp/ priint connection" ( the print conneciton is the one i have on, when i tried it the other way it said put it to print connection)
any ideas??? i'm searching the manual to no avail...

Without answering your question, Most of the persons I know transfer the images with a card reader. From what I know of it is MUCH MUCH faster.

Sometimes these will load up on your computer as an "external hard drive". Two places to check: 1) On the bottom right hand corner of your sceen in the sytem tray (where the time is) look for a funky looking icon with a picture of a green arrow and something that looks like a hard drive (I think that's what it looks like  ), or 2) On your "My Computer" page under where it says "Hard Disk Drives" or "Devices With Removable Storage", it may be listed there.

If it's not either of those, it maybe a driver issue, maybe you need to install something to make it work right.

oh, do NOT transfer directly from camera, just in case your camera battery is dead in the middleof transfer, the data will be corrupted. The safest way is get a CF memory card reader (about US$10) and just use that.

Jann1033,
Currently Dazzle has a $15 rebate on their reader. I think I got mine for $17 before rebate (from Dell).

It's high speed and very good, much faster than my old card reader (about 5 years old)

i just bought a card reader a month or 2 ago but it wouldn't work either( computer said it was working fine but wouldn't download) i think the problem was the hub i just bought( stupid dell computer has 2 usb ports, both in the back and the printer needs one, what were they thinking when they designed that) as the card reader is working again( unplugged and it got "found " again) and i can also connect the camera to the computer( playing with the remote picture taking, not that i will ever use it but it's fun :goodvibes ). it's lots faster with the reader than the printer so glad it's working again. i emailed about the hub cause i never got software with it and the wizard says it can't find any software, put in the disc (then i say "what disc" .)

sonno i have a " removable disk" which i am guessing would be the card reader since it's new( big duh for me) but nothing that would show a hub...would you know if there should there be something if it's working or would you know just by the fact the stuff plugged into it works it's working...in other words is there anyway to see if it's actually installed? would it be a usb root hub? i have 2 of those in the device manager and don't know what they are ( another big duh for me  )

I have no idea without actually messing with it myself. I'd take it down to the store that you bought it from and ask them "Hey! How does this thing work???"

thanks i bought the hub online but emailed them...maybe i'll try it again later ( or maybe not)
