Canon Powershot SX500 IS

I've recently seen this camera in person (my husband's workplace has it) and I held it and it seems nice & lightweight, and fairly easy to use, any thoughts on this particular model? I see that Amazon has it for $262 which is less than it originally was.

If you have ideas for other P & S type cameras, I would love to hear your thoughts! I'm not a professional photographer by any means, I just want something to take some great pictures with on our upcoming Disney trip, and for life in general!

I have the Canon Powershot SX230 that I loved - it's not easily available anymore. The low light settings on it were wonderful. It broke last week.

So I just bought and received the SX260 - I was looking at the SX280 but it didn't have a couple of settings that I wanted. Anyways, the SX260 is actually a bit heavier and a hair larger than the SX230 was.
I think I'll still like it though. It might be a camera you want to look at.

I got the Canon Powershot SX510HS in May for my birthday and I absolutely adore it. I think it's around $250 on Amazon. I was looking at the 500HS too, but ultimately decided on the 510 because the 510 has a better sensor in it for capturing photos (cmos vs ccd.) It does decently in low light situations as well. Plus, I love the ability to upload pictures via wifi and not have to worry about an extra cord lying around.

I was just looking at the Canon Powershot SX510HS. It is on clearance at Target (and Amazon) because it is being discontinued. I have been looking for a nice camera with a great zoom for sports. I have been searching for cameras off and on for a couple years! Too many choices.

I have had two older models of this series and loved them!! Great camera if you want something more than your standard p&s but not as big, bulky, or expensive as a dslr. I upgraded to a DSLR last year and love it but might consider taking my smaller camera on our trip next year.

Thanks for all your input everyone! I think I'll wait for a bit I'm going to have to buy myself a new phone before trip so I may just end up using that instead, The new iPhone is supposed to have a pretty decent camera and video capability. Getting excited we're not leaving till November but it's not that far away now that it's the end of August!
