as an EARLY anniversary present Hubby decided to buy me a Canon powershot A590- :woohoo: (i just got it)

I already had the A560..lol but it had a little accident:scared: (my evil niece got it in her hands and dropped the camera out of the window FIVE FLIGHTS!!-:sad2: gravity can answer that for you :guilty:) (btw: she's no longer welcome in my home.)

I loved my A560 (both the vid and camera settings) but since I have the A590, anyone have a review on it? Im a BIG picture taker..lol so any help here.. personal experiences welcome :worship:

I bought one for myself for Christmas and I am still learning how to use it, I found out I really like the P mode, in that mode you can change the lighting, like cloudy, sunny, tungsten, flourescent, etc, change the ISO, and change to vivid color, sepia, b/w, etc, you can easily change the size 1600x1200, 2048x 1536, etc, also three different ways to meter, spot, center weighted, and evalutive.

Auto does not have as many options.

I have experimented with a few scene modes, I like the night scene mode, took some great Christmas light pics.

I like how light the camera is and how I can grip it and hold it steady.

So far it has been a hit or miss as I learn but that is the beauty of digital there is always the delete button. Trying to learn everything before my Disney trip in May. I have the manual always handy.

Oh and the movie mode is great! You can watch them back in slow motion (if you want to)

I use a 570 which was the model in june of last year, so im assuming their pretty close..mine is a really great little camera, and takes great pictures. Im an amatuer to say the least, i had owned a 560 or something for a little while. These boards got me scoping around the manual mode on the 570 at disney, and while during fireworks..it was a ton of fun and took great pictures. There is a bit of a lag, and after watching my friend with her slr, i would love to have one, just to take continual shots..But for what its worth, its a great camera, with good software..i had to return a sony, it was junk, probably isolated incident there..Also,random, the video option on my 570 is great. Everytime we use it, my son says "nicks camera can only video 30 seconds.." I havent maxed out the video time on mine yet..getting the right batteries is important with these cameras. I like the 24 hour rechargeable energizers you can get. I would of course also get the charger..

I gave my mom one for Xmas.

Not very small which is fine for her, and uses AA batteries which she can find anywhere. She is great at losing rechargeable AAs, so she sticks to Alkalines.

BUT
Battery life is horrible, got it at Costco so I am thinking of taking it back and getting one with a rechargeable.

Most any camera can take continuous shots, just put in drive mode. Works best outdoors with no flash. I always forget about this myself.

But say the kid is posing with the Mouse? You could have it in drive mode, just keep your finger on the button, one out of those 20 shots the kid will SURE to be smiling! :-)
