Canon Lens Questions

Has anyone had any experience with the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens that they could share some insight on it? I am considering getting this because the f/2.8 throughout the entire focal range and the IS should make a nice pair up. The reviews appear pretty favorable in comparison to the L series lenses. Just wondering if any of you have actually used one and what your opinion of the lens is. Thanks in advance
