Help! This is my first post on this board...

I have a Canon D10 and love it...

Here are two pics to share (since this is the photography board)

This is Lauren and she is disabled and can't walk, but loves to swim. This picture looks like she is running - so we love it!

But I have managed to leave the charger in a Chicago hotel room and it is gone forever. How do I replace it? I have searched on butterflyphoto for a charger but only see them for charging NB-7L batteries...I don't see one to charge the NB-6L battery?

Thanks for your help!! :goodvibes

Looking for a waterproof/drop proof camera for my son. He is big into scouts and camping so the rugged features are needed for more than just one occasion. He will be going to Sea Base and sailing on a 50 ft sailboat in the Keys this summer.

Does anyone have an opinion or impression regarding the Panasonic DMC-TS1 or the Canon Powershot D10? We have looked at the Olys a little but the picture quality seems higher with these 2 cameras.

I would like to make a purchase soon so he can have some time to learn the camera before heading off. Any thoughts/comments would be great appreciated!!

TIA!

I have an Olympus waterproof camera and like it. I use it at waterparks, snorkeling, the beach, pools, etc. I love the compact size too. People see it and freak out saying-oh no your camera is wet! Is it waterproof? Duh, or else I wouldnt have it in the water!

I don't know about the other ones you mentioned. However, having worked in the FL Keys as a scuba instructor, keep in mind the Olym is only waterproof to 10 ft. If your son plans on any scuba diving or snorkeling (where he might go below 10 ft) he may run into a problem.

Only snorkeling on this trip! :) The Panasonic is the same - waterproof to 10 ft while the Canon goes to 33 ft.

The Panasonic has better reported image quality though and a wider lens. Of course it costs more too.

I am hoping for someone to point out a difference to make me select one over the other! :rolleyes1 They seem pretty close.

Looking at buying a waterproof camera for up coming trip, found a Cannon D10 for $269 online and thinking that I might try it. Has anyone used this camera at WDW, mostly interested in the water parks? Any reviews or photos would be wonderful. Thanks in advance!!!

Okay, in need of some help here....

Does anyone have/has anyone used a Canon D10? I'm thinking of buying this for our first trip to FL. The main reason is because we will be going to SeaWorld and Discovery Cove, and I want to try to get some pictures of our trips there without risking ruining my Fujifilm. I think this will be the underwater camera I will be mostly looking into, but if someone has had experience with it, how is it quality wise? The feel? Anything will be helpful. Thanks so much!

I don't have the D10. I almost bought it. In fact in looking at the reviews for waterproof cameras I was 99.9% sure I wanted this camera. Then I went to the store and handled it alongside the Panasonic TS-1. DPreview.com rated the 2 cameras as equal to each other in quality when comparing several different waterproof cameras. I ended up buying the Panasonic. The Canon does a lot of in camera sharpening, but imo, the images were a lot grainier and noisier than the Panasonic images, also it doesn't go as wide as the Panny or zoom in as far. I figured for pool, beach type photos chances are you are going to be closer to your subject and therefore you would want to be able to go as wide as possible. The Panny starts at 28mm which isn't very wide, imo, but it's probably the widest that most P&S go. The Canon, I don't recall how wide it starts, but it was enough to notice the difference. (Do a google search for the review if you want to know all the stats.) Also, the Canon is huge and clunky. I didn't care about the size, I was worried more about the optics.
In looking at the DPreview.com review, I thought the Panasonic pictures would require more post processing, but in looking at the photos I took with each one (I took my own SD card and took photos to do a side by side comparison in my computer) I knew I would end up having to do Noise Reduction on a lot of the ones coming straight out of the Canon. And that is strange because DPreview said in their review that Canon does a lot of in camera noise reduction. Anyway, I bought the Panny, I feel the optics and the photos that come straight of the camera are far superior. Yes the flash is pretty bright, but most flashes are and it's a trade off imo. You should try to test them side by side if you can and draw your own conclusions. Just my .02for fwiw...HTH!
