Canon BJ4300 printer questions....

Trying to get my printer working again...anyone have this type. It won't print in color....just black and white.

I think I know where the problem is but I don't know how to fix it. I used to have a "cartridge detection" button and it isn't there anymore.

I have just reinstalled the printer etc....and that option still isn't there.....

Anybody have any idea???

I also unplugged and "reset" the printer but still no go......

We have a BJC-4000. They should be pretty similar. Did you try going to the printer properties window? (START-SETTINGS-PRINTERS; rt click on your printer icon & choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu)

On the properties window, you should have at least 5 tabs (newer ones have more than I do). The middle one s/b "Color Management". On that tab there are 2 settings - auto & manual. Is this what you were looking for?

If you are trying to print from something like Word, you can go to your File menu & choose Print. (Do not choose the icon - it will just print w/o giving you the window.) On the Print dialog box, there should be a "Properties" button; click that. Another window pops up; choose the "Graphics" tab & click the "Color" button near the bottom. Check the settings here also.

Actually, it is under the control tab under properties...there is something called "setup analyzer" on the left and then to the right there always used to be another box called "cartridge detection".

All the settings under the graphics and all are set right. Without this "cartridge detection" thingie.....I think it is just recognizing my printer as a black and white printer...when it isn't and have the correct cartridges in it.
