canon 880 flash problems

I'm having issues with the flash on my camera. A puff of smoke comes out when I use the flash. Has anyone had this problem? If so what have you done to have it fixed? If not...any suggestions?

That does not sound good. Is it under any kind of warranty still? If not many of the smaller point and shoots are often cheaper to replace rather than repair.

Smoke coming from electronics is never a good thing.

I second Photo_Chick's comments. If it's still under warranty, get to the shop ASAP. If not, then start looking for a new PnS.

I had a 35mm film PnS that had similar symptoms. The flash will stop working alltogether in a few more firings. (Mine was out of warranty). The camera will still take pictures, but the flash will be deader than a door nail quite soon.
