Does anyone know if you are allowed to bring your own canoe to the fort? My sister and I are bringing our kids down for a few weeks in July and she has a canoe. Since we could pretty easily throw it in the garage of our fifth wheel and she has one just sitting in her garage I was thinking it would be nice to canoe for free.

Anyone ever done this or see anyone with their own canoe at the fort?

Thanks!

I don't recall where I saw it but I am fairly certain I read that no private boats are allowed in Disney (FW).

Thanks for the answers! I appreciate it, wouldn't want to lug that thing all the way down there for nothing.

Sadly, I feel some responsibility for this unfortunate rule. Back in the day, the mouse allowed private watercraft in Bay Lake. I was excited at the prospect of cruising the waters in my yacht, so I brought her down and launched her in one of the canals. Apparently there were some complaints, so the Disney water police chased me, to no avail. Eventually they were forced to enlist the use of one of the subs from the 20,000 Leagues attraction, and I was torpedoed. From that day on, private water craft were banned. I have petitioned Bobby for repeal, but he stands firm. FWGirl did snap a picture before I was sunk, and I share this with you now ( I apologize for the size, but it was a very small camera):

I canoe! Can you canoe?
(Say it out loud.)

Sorry, couldn't resist-- I think that every time I see this thread in bold!

:rotfl: Obvi I'm feeling a little silly today!

To commemorate this tragic day, many folks at the Fort get "bombed" at their campsites.

Well, I don't know about a canoe--but I have seen a kayaker. It was the year our campsite backed up to what my children refer to as the "green stream". It was Christmas time and the canoe was red--quite festive. :)

Disney does rent canoes and kayaks, but can't use your own
