Cannon Rebel and night photos

Hi,

I did a lot of research on taking fireworks photos before going to disneyworld last year. The kodak website and new york institute of photography recommended shooting fireworks at ISO 100 because they are such bright lights. The NYIP site had a really good article about fireworks (you can google it to find the link, I no longer have it).

I used a tripod and a shutter release cable. I shot at f8 and on the "bulb" setting (turn to "M" and then flip the wheel all the way down until you see "bulb" in your camera when you meter it). Then I just held the shutter open when I heard the sound of the rocket launch and I released it after the rocket blast. I got some beautiful shots, especially of the fireworks over the castle. I used the same method to capture Walt's statue in front of the castle, the dancing fountain in epcot and all the Christmas decorations. I was very happy with my shots.

Good luck and enjoy! Get out at night and practice shooting your house lit up at night or other night time scenes before you go so you won't be disappointed when you get home from your trip!
