I looked for SLS-free toothpaste today, and it said to consult a doctor for children under 12. - Anyone know why? (I haven't bought it yet.)
I've also heard real licorice helps prevent them, and DS says he does get fewer when he eats it, but that it doesn't prevent them completely. (Of course, this is a 9-year-old's opinion on the effect of a candy, so take it as you will.)
I may have to convince him to try living without ketchup for a while and see if that helps.
Nuts give me sores in my mouth (also coconut and nutmeg.)
In the last couple of years, some restaurant salad dressing eat through my mouth. I was at a formal dinner and my tongue started bleeding - there was about a half-inch gash in it, caused by salad dressing.
My mother used to get them all the time, and she finally figured out it was because she was allergic to fluoride. My normal trigger is anything flavored with BBQ sauce.
