Just got back from 8 days at the Cane Island resort in Kissimmee. Overall it was a nice place to stay, and a good value. We booked through Hotelbeds.com (actually it was a rate found on airfare.com, but we picked up the key at hotelbeds, just down the road from the condo). We spent $471 including tax for 8 days, for a 3 bedroom, 2 bath condo. Cane Island is located on Scott rd., just off 192. If you go north of 192 Scott becomes Polynesian, which goes up to 535, which then hits I-4. We would just go up Polynesian then make a left onto 535 and then go north on I-4 to get to Seaworld and Universal. If you were going to WDW you could take Polynesian to Osceola Pkwy (Toll) which takes you right over, or go up to 535 then west on World Center Dr.
As for the condo itself, it was very clean and all the furnishings were in great shape. We thought the decorating scheme was very nice (dark wood with sand, light blue and teal colors). Other condos we peeked into had a red/gold color scheme that was nice, too. Our only complaints were the dishwasher was not anchored, so everytime you pulled out the rack, it kind of pitched forward, and the water pressure was not great in the shower. The kitchen was nice, and came with pots and pans. I thought there weren't any dishes, and then I realized they were all artfully arranged on the dining room table! The maids had made towel Swans on the master bed, which the kids were impressed with, also. We were on the 3rd floor, but there was an elevator and parking just outside the condo.
Within walking distance are Chili's, Pizzeria Uno and Macaroni Grill as well as Krispy Kreme, and across 192 are Ruby Tuesday, Dunkin Donuts and I think Longhorn Steakhouse. About a mile to the east at the intersection of 192 and 535 is a Publix and a little farther east at marker 12 is a SuperTarget with a large grocery section. There's also a nice IHOP on 192 that we enjoyed eating at.
The pool is not that big, but the water was warm, and there is also a very warm jacuzzi. You have to enter the pool area through the "clubhouse" building near the entrance, which also has a pool table and exercise room. There's also a sauna next to the pool, but we didn't use it. The pool area was clean, but the jacuzzi could have been cleaned better. My kids spent a lot of time at the pool, even though it wasn't as nice as at some other resorts we've been to. It overlooks the pond, which is surrounded by the four storied condo buildings on 4 sides.
There aren't any activities like at some other resorts (Cypress Pointe, Grand Beach, etc.), but we were doing parks during the day, so we didn't miss them. Let me know if I can answer any questions!

I've been trying to find out, do the condos have a safe?

What restuarants/fast food chains are within walking distance?

Thanks, for you help
