Has anyone done this on their own? How hard is it to get to and get a cab back?

Trying to find a family beach that we can get to relatively easily. Would like to do the Bath's but I have a 2 year old and a 75 year old in our party.

Thanks for the help
Ed

I have not done it but you should be able to arrange with your outgoing cab driver a time to be picked up.

We are considering doing the same surfer_ed and would love to hear others experiences.

We stayed at CGB in June of 2015. I will ask my friends if they remember the name of the cab company. They were super helpful in agreeing to the times we would like to book their service and were always punctual. CGB is just beautiful and peaceful, even on 'cruise ' day. I may have shared this before, but the house at the end of the beach to the right is owned by Sandy Koufax and his wife, Jane. We stayed there for a week. https://www.vrbo.com/3184.

We are considering this too - from what I gather, you get a cab for $8/person and go to the beach. What I can't understand is - is the beach "free" and you just pay $5 for a rental chair and then whatever food you want to purchase?

Yes, the beach is free, chairs and umbrellas for rent. The main restaurant, Myett's, is really really good! Just be aware that the locals are definitely on 'island time,' and will get to you when they get to you:) One person in our party had a bad experience with a cocktail from one of the 'beach bars', so I would definitely stick to buying cocktails from Myett's. Enjoy!

Thanks for the info! Does anyone know how long the cab ride is from the port? Also, I've read the drive can be a bit scary..any thoughts?
TIA

I would say it's safe to take a cab. This is the guy we called.
Zane (at Dedes car rental) 284-542-6555 He came recommended by the owner of the house we rented and he was fabulous! The streets are very narrow, sharp curves and some very steep grades, so I was a bit anxious but never scared or worried:)

There will be no shortage of "Safari Cabs" at the port area and one of the main destinations will be Cane Garden Bay.

It is safe and easy. The cab drivers in the BVI (and USVI) are very helpful and professional. You can ask to be picked up at a stated time and your driver will be there for you like clockwork. The driver will want to fill up his vehicle with as many people going to the same destination as possible, so be patient. But for a trip to CGB, there will be so many people wanting to go there, it should fill up quickly.
