Hi All - okay so now the NHL have decided to play this year, my entire trip to the US has to be rearranged around the los angeles kings game on Boxing Day!!! And it looks like we're now coming to Anaheim. Our normal hotel (the Coast) is being renovated, so I'm just wondering what does everyone love about the Candy Cane - and are the premium rooms better than standard? Or where else would you suggest for me - been to anaheim a few times, didnt' like the Carousel, the Radisson was okay - but I'm leaving the plump pillows and jangly shinyness of Treasure Island in Vegas to come to Anaheim so don't want to walk into my room and be sad!!! Any ideas?

I have stayed at Candy Cane a couple of times and I really like it. Mostly I like the decor; the rooms are prettier than alot of motels. I also like the proximity to the 7-11 :earboy2:

Loved the Candy Cane Inn! Nice rooms, quiet, clean. nice pool area. Great dedicated shuttle - or close enough to walk! The breakfast is quite extensive as well. We've only stayed in the regular rooms, so I'm not sure what you'd be getting if you went up a step - but I believe they are a bit bigger! I always highly recommend it!

If you want any specifics I will be checking into the Candy Cane in a couple of weeks for 5 nights. I can report back upon my return to the real world.

The Candy Cane is a great place. It is more of a motel (only two stories) than a tower hotel but is has more character than most of the places around Anaheim. It had nicely decorated and comfortable rooms and is a close walk to the parks.
Other places that are good are The Howard Johnson which is more of a hotel than a motel. It has large comfortable rooms though with less character and is run by nice people.
The Best Western Park Place in is a trhee story motel with many mini suites, nicely decorate rooms and is at the crosswalk over to the parks.

Candy Cane Inn info: Deluxe room is nicer than the standard. We liked having a little more space. The premium rooms are Deluxe Rooms with extra services, so check out the services they offer on their website to see if the extra cost is worth it to you.

cci and coast are similar quality levels so you should be fine...those are always our two hotel choices. you do know that boxing day will be a very busy time of year there?

My friend and I will be staying in a standard room at CCI for the first time from Sept 17-24 (WOOHOO!), so I'll report back about what the room was like when I return!

Jules

We just got back last night from staying at CCI for 5 nights. The standard room was fine, as far as a room goes, a little tight for our family of 4, but we're used to the larger disney rooms at WDW. The free breakfast was great, toast, muffins, donuts, bagels, fresh fruit, instant oatmeal, cold cereal (fruit loops, raisin bran, and rice krispies), coffee, tea, hot chocolate. The pool is small, there is a wireless internet "hot spot" at the pool (DH appreciated that!). The shuttle is a great perk, it leaves CCI on the half hour, and at night, it leaves like, every five minutes from the park. For some reason, the parking lot was always jammed, but we managed to get a spot. It's literally right next to California Adventure, so the walk isn't bad at all.
