Candy Cane Inn?

We're (wife & 2 teenage sons) visiting DL (&more) for the first time and made reservations at the Candy Cane Inn. Is this place nice? In the past we've gone to WDW and stayed on site. We're trying to be a bit economical, but are we making a mistake? Thanks.

As a resident of Southern Ca, I know that area really well. The Candy Cane Inn on Harbor Blvd. is right next to the DL Resort Area. Convenience and economically speaking good choice. I know they remodeled the exterior in the last 10 years, but I don't know about the interior. There are several new hotels in the area a little further down the road on Harbor....Embassy Suites/Residence Inn......Hilton Gardens..not within walking distance to the parks but in my opinion a little nicer. They also have several chain restaurants within walking distance. Outback, Joe's Crab Shack, Red Robin etc.....

If it my choice I would opt for a Disney Resort. Was Paradise Pier really expensive? Just my opinion. Since the resort area itself is so much smaller, getting around is so much easier. Downtown Disney is just a short walk away from all the hotels. Movies, food, stores and ESPN Zone are just minutes from all the Disney Resorts....

I love the Candy Cane Inn. It is a little breath of fresh air at the busy Disneyland Resort Area.
It is a two story, large, U shaped motel with exterior corridors built in the late 50's early 60's and extensively remodeled in the early 90's.

As you might expect the pictures are taken from optimum angles really showing of the place. The pool area ia actually in the center of the parking lot and is not ver big but it is pretty. They also serve the nive continental breakfast in the building next to the pool. The rooms are not huge but very nicely decorated, though probably not to the taste of teen age boys!!!

Here is an ariel photo to compare as well. Again, the Candy Cane is located to the right and down a hair, of the blue California Adventure words. It is the U shaped place next to the curing roadway.

The walk from the Candy Cane to the front gates of the parks is 7-12 minutes depending on your speed and one stop light. They also have their own shuttle as well.

Cany cane Inn was ok. My kids seem to love it but make sure your room is not directly facing the street...noisy!

The Candy Cane Inn is very nice as far as motels go. It's been redecorated inside recently and is cute (your wife will love it)--although whether your teenage sons will appreciate the decor is questionable!

The rooms are not very big--so if you can swing it, I'd get two adjoining rooms. Even the deluxe is pretty "cozy."

The continental breakfast is a step above most, and the hotel has its own shuttle. It's an easy walk, but it's nice to have the option at the end of a long day.

There's a 7-11 type store right next door, which is great for snacks, etc. You can also get a fridge and a microwave in your room.
