Candy Cane Inn...

My wife is pregnant with our first, she would like a "winter thaw" (our annual winter expedition somewhere warm), and to get a last trip in before she is on the "no fly" list. (She's due in late March/early April). I have business trip to San Diego later this month, so we are going to head to DL for two nights after that portion of the trip is over.

Thoughts/experiences on the Candy Cane Inn? Trip Advisor gives it pretty solid ratings. Other than the standard "someone was once rude to me" comments, the only other consistent issue is the rooms are small. Right now, it's only the 2 of us (or 2.5 if you will) so that shouldn't be a big deal. Also, we don't spend much time in hotel rooms when we travel - they are a bed and a shower. WiFi is nice so I can work at night and I understand the hotel has that.

We checked-in to the Fairfield Inn last time we went to DL (about 5 years ago) and immediately checked out (there were scores of dead roaches in the room when we opened the door). I'm normally pretty loyal to Marriott, but that was over the top. (We did stay at the full service Marriott which is nice - but this time it's a bit pricey).

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

We have stayed at Candy Cane Inn in the past and enjoyed it very much. I can't comment on the wi-fi since they didn't have that last time we stayed a few years ago. I agree that the rooms are small, but I also agree that won't matter so much for a couple. Basically Candy Cane Inn is an extremely well-kept motel close to Disneyland. The grounds are attractive. The rooms were clean and pleasant. Parking seems tight but we never had trouble getting a spot during any of our three visits. The continental breakfast is nice and better than most other hotel's continental breakfasts. The free direct shuttle is a nice perk for tired feet, but we didn't make it a priority to wait for it. Depending on how your wife is feeling though, it may be more useful in your case. I would definitely stay here again if I didn't keep getting tempted by cheaper offers elsewhere.

The Candy Cane Inn keeps us coming back. We love that it is clean, attractive and well landscaped. I love that I can walk to DL before it opens; my parents love the dedicated shuttle. They are also big fans of the breakfast. We love the CCI!

Candy Cane is great. The place is really kept up nicely. There is always someone cleaning or sweeping even in the parking lot. We have a family of 4 and the small rooms are no problem for us.

We love the CCI too! My cousin was actually the one that told me about it.

Like the other posters said it is VERY close and I walked it while I was in my second trimester

The grounds are very clean and pretty with all the landscaping.

The breakfast is very nice and they keep it stocked all through the breakfast hours, (not 3/4 of the time because it will end soon). It has only a few seats inside but it wont be the matter if it is a beautiful day (as most are) and there are tables to sit at around the pool. ~Grab a couple pieces of fruit for the park!~

One thing I can not emphasize enough....the beds are VERY soft. Not the usual rock hard discount hotel beds that you would expect for the price.

We live in San Diego and depending on when you drive up it should only take you a couple hours to drive up. We usually drive up the evening/night before (leaving around 7pm) and get settled in so that we can get a good nights rest before our day at the parks. This makes a world of difference on the children and on me when I was carrying our baby 4 around
