so I found on the bargain place, the dream unlimited travel thing - have a few ??'s because I am so not used to traveling...:confused3

got a quote for 5 nights fri-wed in the Candy Cane Inn for about 1600 for a family of 4 including tickets (4day - hopper) and 3 day dining pass...is this a good deal? no airfare, so we will add that in so basically doubling it unless we have a good deal...

How is the CCI? can you walk to the parks? are the shuttles easy?

Is the dining pass a deal or silly? I thinking paying upfront would make it FEEL like less $ there...do you just get vouchers and can use them anytime?

I am sure I will have more ??'s thanks for everyone help!!

We have a stayed at Candy Cane Inn twice and loved it both times! The shuttles worked very well I think they picked up every half hour. And the walk to Disneyland was not bad at all, especially for us since we had a big stroller that was to hard to unpack and fold up to get on the tram:rotfl2:

They also have a very nice complimentary breakfast in the mornings which we enjoyed. Hope the info helps. Have a great trip.

We love the CCI. We have our 3rd stay scheduled for next month. It is close enough to walk. Its about 10-15 minutes. The shuttle is great. It leaves the hotel on the hour and 1/2 hour from half hour before the park opens until 45 min. after closing. There is one about 7:30 or 8pm that doesnt run, the driver takes a break. Check with the front desk as to the time if it will effect you.

The rooms are a bit small, but we dont spend much time in them. It is "motel" style, as in the doors open to the parking lot not into a hallway. Its not a facny hotel, but it's clean and close! We usually eat the breakfast they offer. Some people complain that its not enough or not balanced. Its good enough for us! My kids are used to a bagel, toast or cold cereal at home, so they are fine with it.

The dinning plan is a hastle. If you want to prepay I recomend ordering a couple of gift cards and using them. The vouchers take forever to pay with. Each one has to be keyed into the register when you pay. They dont give change back, so you need spend more then the voucher value and pay cash to make up the difference. Just not a great plan.

good to know about the meal plan, it does include a char. Breakfast, so maybe I will just do that...and then do the gift card!!! thanks for the info!

We stayed at the Candy Cane Inn during Thanksgiving week of 2005. It was great. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the free breakfast was good. The parking lot was very crowded during our stay (Thanksgiving), but we were always able to find a space. The pool was not heated very well during our visit, so DS didn't do too much swimming.

The walk to Disneyland and CA was very easy and quick. The CCI is on the same side of the street. We sometimes took their free shuttle back from the parks when we felt too tired to walk. I would highly recommend staying here. I think you can also get a good discount through AAA.

We just got back friday from our stay at Candy Cane Inn. Here are my pros/cons:

Pros- Grounds are beautiful. Flowers and vines everywhere. They have candy canes in the lobby. Breakfast is one of the better ones: Cereal, oatmeal, bagel, toast, pastries, fruit, juice, hot cocoa, coffee. Very clean rooms. Nice towels. They do have washer/dryer for $1.00 each. Internet worked really well. Shuttle was nice to ride at the end of the day.

Cons- Front staff did not know the area. We asked on two different occasions a question and got the wrong response both times. Maid service can go up to 4:00pm. Rooms are small- we had to put our luggage in the van since there was no room. No dresser- they had an all in one tv/fridge with 5 small drawers. The fridge had no freezer part, just fridge. The walk was about 10 minutes from our room to the security check gates.

All in all it was ok. We did not go swimming. They had three pools- larger one, spa and childrens. It was nice to have 7-11 next door.
