My DH and I want to go to Disneyland December 9th or 10th, 2010 to see the holiday displays. I am a DVC member and the Villas of GC are booked already.

We have stayed at the CCI a few years ago, but see that Ayers is the #1 hotel according to TripAdvisor.

CCI is $113 with my AAA card, and Ayers is $132.05. Is one much better than the other? Do they ever have promos codes or deals?

Also, it is better to go to DL on a Thursday (mingling with all those who picked that day for early entry), or Friday (dealing with the weekenders)?

Thanks in advance!

The closeness of CCI would be a 'major' selling point for us. Of course the price doesn't hurt either. :rolleyes1 From reading reviews on CCI the biggest gripe is the size of the rooms. Kinda on the 'small' size
We're torn between CCI or HoJo's for our next trip. :confused3

I find that so interesting that Ayres is the #1 hotel--I have personally never heard anyone talk about it. It seems like it's pretty far, so you'll have to factor transportation into the equation with it being all the way over by Angels stadium.

That would totally tip the deal over to the CCI for me.

CCI is a slam dunk (even if it was $50 more).

- walking distance on Harbor Blvd.....for getting to the turnstile first in the morning.
- dedicated shuttle....for the mid day break & possibly at night.
- free (good) breakfast.
- it's cute...& nice & clean.
- the small room won't matter if only two of you. (basic motel type room)

I don't even know what the Ayers hotel is...and you can check my sig for a quick glance at how many times we went over the past couple of years. LOL

CCI is a great hotel!! We enjoyed it quite a bit when we were there and the shuttle was GREAT after a long day at the parks. :)

This Is just awsome news!!, we are going to be there In less then two weeks and just felt a little down, we down graded from the DLH and I am just looking for anything postive, thanks all.

The Ayers hotels are great and you would have a great experience there. However, it is quite a bit further than the CCI. The CCI has a private shuttle so you wouldn't have to deal with the parking & tram situation at DLR. I would choose CCI hands down.

We love the CCI. The location combined with the quality of the rooms and grounds is what we love about it. The are other properties that are closer but the CCI's surroundings put them over the top IMO. Plus they have a good breakfast and the private shuttle. I'd say go for the CCI!

We are staying at the Doubletree Guest Suites for this trip though because my DH has to attend a conference. The DTGS is supposed to pretty nice too so I'll report back on that property when we return next week.

I think it really depends on whether you mind a drive or not. I have stayed at both, and I would go back to Ayres before CCI. CCI was nice, and it was great to be walking distance, but I guess I just don't like a "motel" like place. I prefer a hotel with interior corridors. The rooms at CCI are also small as others have said (unless you get a deluxe). Breakfast was fine but just cold stuff and very little seating.
Ayres is about a 5 minute drive down Katella by the "Pond" hockey arena. It is more of a business hotel in sort of a boutique style, the rooms are VERY nice, service excellent, and a great made to order hot breakfast. It truly is a hidden gem. It is not one of the usual hotels talked about on these boards, so many haven't heard of it, but it is gorgeous. HTH:)

Thank you for the votes so far, I am leaning towards CCI.

Now, I cannot decide if I want to go into the parks on Thursday, 12/9, or Friday 12/10. I don't know which would have less crowds.

When we stayed at the CCI the bfast was great. No there weren't things like waffles but there were bagels w/cream cheese, different types of muffins, toast w/butter & jam, they had good fruit, not stuff that seemed to be a couple of days old, they had cocoa, different juices, hot TEA!!!!!!, coffee, milk, cereal....the selection was much better then other Harbor hotel bfasts were. :) I was thrilled with the tea and the honey packs that were right there. :) That made me soooooo happy. lol

We've stayed at the CCI 2 times and we loved it.I didn't find it that small and we were 4 people sharing a room plus having a wheelchair in the room.I think that the fact that it took us less than ten minutes to walk to DL definitely would tip the scales.Especially since I have never even heard od the other place.

I really like them both. Anytime I go to the Pond I stay at Ayres. It seems like an expensive hotel, closer to motel prices. I would probably still pick CCI for the location.
