Candy Cane Inn V HOJO

I have been thinking about hotels for our DL trip for DH and I (yeah I know I like to plan ahead!!) I have had the HOJO recommended to me but I have been reading great reviews about the Candy Cane Inn. I have looked at both hotels and would book either the deluxe room at the HOJO or the Premium room at the CCI. So which would you prefer and why?

Candy Cane. They are both about the same distance, but CCI offers a free dedicated shuttle that just services their hotel. You'll have to walk or use ART for Hojo's. Plus CCI offers breakfast which saves time and money.

The rooms and pool are larger at Hojo's, but we dont spend enough time at the hotel for that to matter.

Not sure I would bother to go with the premium room at the CCI- I've stayed in standard and deluxe. Both met my needs just fine. The big "perk" for the premium room, is breakfast delivered to your room. NOt sure that is really worth the extra cost.

Thanks for that advice. The deluxe rooms do look better value (you are right maybe the breakfast to your door isn't worth the extra $$ and could be saved for Vegas.) Do you have any recommendations for location preference for rooms at the CCI? (I have read that it is hard to find a place by the pool to eat breakfast so I don't mind bringing the food back to the room.)
Or is the HOJO still better?

We are a family of five so we always stay at HoJos - so I'm biased. I've never seen a good deal at CCI, where I can get $54 a night at HoJo's with the Entertainment Book rate. For my family of five, that's a deal! Free rollaway, many of the rooms already have them inside.

We actually like not having a breakfast to go to. Just a quick bowl of cereal in the room or a breakfast bar on the way, and we're quickly to the parks. And we have never wanted to wait for a shuttle. I suppose if it were there at the time we needed it we would take it, but we just don't want to stand around and wait (something that really bothers me about WDW - but that's for another thread). So the shuttle isn't important to us.

What is important to us: nice pool, large rooms, clean rooms, great staff, lovely store and fun game area. HoJos excells at all of these.

One day I want to try CCI because I've heard so many wonderful things about it, but at this point (3 kids) we prefer the size of the HoJo rooms.

The walk from CCI is not any further then Hojo's- its about the same, if not a tiny bit closer. And, you dont have to cross Harbor, which scares me. The shuttle runs every 1/2 hour (on the hour and 30) to the park, and the 15 and 45 from the park. They start running about 30 min before the park opens and the last one is 45 min after the park closes. There is one shuttle in the evening that is missing- the driver takes a dinner break. We've missed it a couple times, usually once or twice each trip, and just make the walk. Its not bad at all. About 10 minutes, even with small tired kids.

You are right about the room rate, you can sometimes get good deals , at Hojo's. It is still not worth it for us. We usually go in the spring, with the kids fly free on Alaska. When booking a package, Hojo's isnt any cheaper. Especially when you factor in the cost to eat breakfast.

We have never had a problem getting a spot for breakfast. We've had to wait a minute or two a couple times, but nothing major. Ususually I look for a spot to sit while dh helps one of the kids get food. Then I get food for me and the other child.

For us it's the Candy Cane. My parents are getting older and having the dedicated shuttle is a major selling point. It's worth the extra money to them.
