Candy Cane Inn or Fairfield Inn?

Has anyone stayed in a Deluxe Room at the Candy Cane Inn with two doubles and a rollaway bed added? Just wondered how much of a squish it is? I don't want to book two rooms as I need to keep the costs down as we're coming from the UK and visiting other places in California.

We are family of four, mum, dad, daughter 20 and son 16 so need 3 beds.

Our other choice is Fairfield Inn, which has larger rooms and also has a chair bed so no rollaway needed. Also can book a room with a disney parks view and it's only a short walk to the park, no need for a shuttle, but no breakfast included.

Which do you think would suit us better?

I have never stayed at either - but the both get good reviews on here. We stayed at HOJO's which is just past the Fairfield, so I can tell you that the walk is very easy - under 10 minutes. I think I would probably pick the fairfield since the rooms are larger and you could walk, it is very nice to not have to deal with a shuttle

As much as I LOVE the Candy Cane Inn, the rooms are pretty small--even the deluxe. It would be a bit squishy with a rollaway.

We stayed at the Fairfield last year using our Marriott points. That was our only reason for choosing that hotel. We liked it just fine. It was nothing fancy, but it was roomy, clean, comfortable and not too far of a walk, as we had little ones with us, this was a big concern for us. We are coming back in a few weeks and are staying again at the Fairfield because we had a good experience last year. Good luck, and hope you have a great trip!

We stayed at Hojo (next to Fairfield) last month and really liked it...tho the walk is short, it does feel long after days spent walking and standing so much in the parks...which is why I still prefer Candy Cane...Yes, the rooms are small, but they are comfortable and I love the grounds, the free breakfast and the shuttle option...even tho it's about the same distance from the gates as Hojo, I like the option of not always having to walk...especially if I'm tired. There is no view at CCI, but we are usually in the parks in the evenings anyway.

We have also stayed here and would do so again. Good proximity to the park, good sized rooms, clean, and restaurants withing walking distance.

We stayed at the FFI last week. The "chair size bed" is really narrow. My ds18 is 6' and very thin, he slept on it the first night and said he felt like he was about to fall off the entire night. My younger ds11 slept on it the 2nd night and did not complain at all.

We stayed at the CCI about 6 years ago, 6 people in that room was very cramped! And the walk felt like forever, much further than crossing the street from FFI or HOJOs. But that could be because our children were much younger then. According to this link:

We are staying at the CCI for this first time in October so can't help with a comparison. If keeping costs down is a priority, any possibility that Dad and son could share one bed and you and DD share the other? If it is just for a couple of nights that might work.

We stayed at both CCI and FFI. We stayed in both types of rooms at CCI but last time tried a "premiere" upgraded room since we were a party of 4 and figured it would be more spacious.While the upgraded features like a rose and popcorn treat bucket were nice the room was still just a normal room IMHO. FFI is great but still cramped for families with more than 2 or 3.

I would recommend either the Anabella hotel which has rooms with family suites like apartments. The cost is not that much more and sometimes the same as CCI or Fairfield Inn. We really enjoy the Anabella. Another suggestion is one of the Disney properties. Some of the Disney hotels have couches that fold out into beds and when we stayed there the rooms were really nice and spacious. Good luck and have a great trip.

Umm, sounds like the chair bed may not be suitable then, oh dear, it's just so hard to find one room to fit us all, and now I've found out the Fairfield doesn't have a safe in the room, which is a bit of a bummer, as we really do need a safe for our passports, electrical items, important documents etc, and don't fancy having to go down to reception to use a safe deposit box all the time.

We've tried that in the past, but DD moves a lot and elbowed me in the head, it really did not work out, lol, which is a shame but it's no good if we don't get any sleep.

Thanks for letting me know about the premier rooms at CCI, that wouldn't work then! How far is the Anabella? We won't have a car, so will have to walk, or do they have a shuttle? Really didn't want to have to use the ART buses as they go round to all the hotels and it takes up precious time in the mornings. I priced up the cheapest disneyland hotel, but it was 350 with tax a night, which is three times what the Harbor Blvd hotels are charging, and we really need to keep costs down as we're touring for over two weeks.

Any more help gratefully received, lol, I'm not getting anywhere am I?

Well, I've just spent all morning searching around for another hotel, and have looked at Hojo's website and have been sucked in!

It's only a bit futher to walk than the Fairfield, being next door, and it has lovely large rooms which fit a rollaway bed. Nice pool area too, in fact all our boxes are ticked, no breakfast but that's no biggie we can always take some cereal bars with us.
