Candlelight processional

Just in throes of booking from 17 December to 31 December 05 inclusive at SSR and heard about the Candlelight processional. Any more details would be good - when is it, what is it, where is it, can you book in advance?

Also any ideas for Christmas day lunches and New Years Eve events as we fly back to UK on 1st Jan 06.

They don't actually take reservations for the CP itself...rather you need to book a meal at one of the Epcot restaurants at a pre-set price and they will include reserved seating tickets. They started taking reservations in September '04.

and by reserved seats, they mean you will GET a seat, but no guarantees of where it will be. You are not actually assigned a seat. You go and have dinner at which ever restaurant you choose and then get in a LONG line waiting for your turn to get in. The nice thing is you WILL get a seat and you dont have to wait in line. No matter how long the line is, there will be enough seating for you to get in. If you want to be in the front, you simply have to eat fast and get in line. If you are not concerned (we sat many rows back and near the center and had an excellent view), then enjoy your dinner knowing you will get in.

It is rather beautiful and I would love to do it again, but will wait until my children are older. They enjoyed the music, but the story was too quiet and didn't keep their attention (they were 2 and 4).

We enjoy the Candlelight Processional when we go at Christmas time. Usually they have three shows each evening. I recommend that you book the middle show with dinner AFTER the show. That way you don't have to rush to get in line to get your seat for the show. We tried the first show once but it was still daylight and the "candlelight" lost its effect LOL. Once we had dinner at the Rose and Crown after the show and got to enjoy Illuminations on the patio while enjoying our dessert.

Ahhh yes, the CP story...it is not Jingle Bells and Ho Ho Ho
It is the true Christmas Story. Very non-PC (thank goodness)

I can see where kiddos would be bored with it, but adults love it (well, this adult anyway).

Going to it is a Family Tradition for us! We didn't find out about it until 4 years ago. We thought that WDW WAS too PC to do anything like that. Oh the music! The trumpets! It's fabulous.

We first learned of CP in 01 and didn't get to see it until last Dec.. we enjoyed it soo much we went three times. I highly recommend the package, and then get in line about 45 minutes before your show time. Sitting down front is an incredible experience..

Twice we sat up in the back rows.. the street noise was distracting.. We still enjoyed it, but not as much as the lower seating..

My family and I saw the CP the day we arrived in 1996, on December 23rd. We went to eat at Coral Reef then booked it over to see the show. It really put us all in the Christmas spirit after the flight and waking up really early to catch the flight. You won't regret it, it's beautiful.

This past December we attended our first Candlelight Processional. I was with a Magical Gathering Group ranging from 6 months to 80 + years old. We attended the middle show after dinner at the Garden Grille. We literally ran around the lagoon to make the show.... we wanted to make sure we could use our special seats from the dinner.
Needless to say.... in all my ten plus trips to WDW this is the best thing I have ever seen. I absolutely loved it... no commercialism.... just the true Christmas story. I appreciate the fact that there were no fireworks light shows... just beautiful singing about the season. Our narrator was Joshua Morrow, a soap star from Young and the Restless. My husbands 80 + grandma absolutely loved it and wants to go back and see it again. Had we had more time and not a 1 year old I would have went the next night again. I have seen lots of holiday shows and this is the best ever hands down and can't wait to visit this special show again.

The Candlelight Processional, a Christmas spectacular, is beyond description. In 20+ years of visiting Walt Disney World, it is THE most beautiful and well done production that I have seen. It will truly give you chicken skin. Be sure and obtain the dinner package. The seats aren't reserved, per se, but you do get preferred seating. Enjoy!

CP is so beautiful and meaningful. We usually save it until our last night. This past year my niece and nephew had a hard time sitting through it (2 and 3). I would recommend the 1st show and eating afterwards. We used to do it the other way but felt rushed. Definately do the package!

We have been to CP and loved it. Would love to do it again, but visits haven't been at Xmas. I would get a dinner package as recommended - it will certainly make you feel the Christmas Spirit.

We've been going to WDW for more than 16 years and it was our first time this past December to CP. It was the most moving and beautiful performance I've ever seen at WDW! My DH and I absolutely loved it!

I can't recommend it strongly enough if you're interested in the Christmas Story. We had Kirk Franklin (a popular gospel singer) as narrator and he was awesome!

I agree with everyone - we have gone twice and truly enjoyed the presentation. We have heard Gary Sinese twice. The first time, my then 14yr old asked which Christmas Story - I told him the TRUE Christmas Story. This time I want to see show first and have dinner after. One nice thing about getting the package is paying in advance - so one less meal you have to budget.

It was wonderful: do NOT miss it! Even my 14 year old DD was impressed. We had the package, and had dinner first at Teppanyaki (great!), and then did the show. We got in line just as they were letting the "package people" in, and got great seats, half way up, on the aisle. No waiting in line at all.

One neat thing was that we were seated in the restaurant with a family whose son was performing in the CP that night. It was great fun to hear about their experiences with the rehearsals and all......and made it even more interesting for the performance, since we felt like we "knew" one of the singers!

I would just love to go back at Christmas time, just for the CP!
