Does the CP at DLR compare anything to the CP at WDW? We have been to WDW twice and both times booked the CP but I am wondering if we should see the one at DLR? Are they pretty similar to each other?

Thank you,

I didn't even know there was one at Disneyland.
I did some googling and it seems it is in the first week of December normally with information released in mid to late September.

As for what it is like I have no idea...but I'd love to know!

They are similar in that a celebrity narrator tells the Christmas Story with a backing choir and there are reserved seat/dining package opportunities but unlike Epcot, D-land's takes place on Main St. with the train station as the focal point....and it only takes place on 2 nights.

Just today I came across this from another site talking about it

pics to give you an idea.

I've tried to go back as an a/p guest, but it's always really crowded, and I'm not sure how to get seating. But I would love to go. Don't know what WDW's is like. When I sang, the Disneyland employee choir made up the tree. Two or three community choirs from the OC made up the tree skirt. We were poised on risers in front of the train station. Disneyland gathered choirs from all over, high school through adult. The choirs were dressed in choir robes and carried battery operated candles from "It's a Small World" down the regular parade route to the train station on Main Street. The choirs filled in the rest of the stage, the narrator took the stage and the show would begin. IMO it's a very moving show, but if you've seen it in WDW, then you know. While I've never seen the Candlelight Procession at WDW, my guess is that Disneyland's is more intimate, like everything else there. It's just smaller. If you can figure out how to get reserved seating, I'd say go for it. It usually is the first weekend in December.

Good Luck.

The DL one is indeed more intimate. I've been to both and thoroughly enjoyed both...but I have to say the DL one just felt more special. They've been doing it since 1956! I mean, you can't beat the massive choir proceeding through the dimly lit streets of DL holding candles and singing Christmas carols. And watching it in the front of Main St. train station is just magical.

The only issue is of course the crowds...things get pretty tight in there without the luxury of space that Epcot has. Heck, you could probably fit 5 Disneylands in World Showcase alone.

We will be arriving Dec. 2nd and leaving the 6th so the CP will be going on that weekend. I'm just trying to decide whether to skip the crowd and enjoy the other areas instead. Like I said, I've seen the one at WDW twice and if they are pretty much the same, I think we may pass.

Thank you for your comments.

If you want reserved seating, what do tickets typically cost, and when do they go on sale? Does it include dinner? Thanks.

I would like more information about this too, especially the reserved seating and cost.

Thanks!

They've been doing it since 1956!
Actually the first year was 1958. Last year was the 50th anniversary.

I saw info on mousesavers about last years CP and The cost was 80-135$ per person it's a dinner package that you must eat before the CP. The tickets went on sale last year in Nov. To general public and they were only online according to the site. I would post the link but I am on my iPhone. Hth it said to call Disney dine line for more info.
