I'm also wondering the same thing. Had no luck getting a dinner package, so my strategy is heavily based on whether there is more than one CP event per night and what the capacity is for the event in light of social distancing guidelines. Once a few bloggers post some updates/experiences with this year's events, it'll be a lot easier to see what sort of monster we are getting into.

Don't know how it will go post Covid, but in the old days people start lining up when Epcot opens, especially for popular narrators. Those further back in line often have to wait through at least one show before getting seated inside.
I’m not saying that hasn’t happened, people lining up when Epcot opens, for a particular date/narrator….but we’ve seen the show many times, including standby, and we didn’t find that to be the case, generally. An hour ahead was usually enough time, at least the times we did standby.
The line can look overwhelming. We've gotten into line once it starts moving and you'd be surprised how many people fit into the arena. So, you could take a chance and not waste time in the line. Worst case, you don't get a seat and you watch the show standing behind the arena which is still nice
I think a lot depends on the narrator as well-- we have not done the package in years (since they took away the merch discount), and we were usually there the days that Neil Patrick Harris was narrating, and for the first show, people starting lining up by 12-1PM--- no joke--- Im not saying thats the norm, but at least for NPH, it got very busy very early !!
Depends on who the narrator is you could lineup hours before each performance. I have noticed that dining reservations do open up so keep trying a few times each day
