I have never seen the show, and I'm taking a Dec trip with my 13 yo son. Will he enjoy this, or think it's boring/churchy? He's a fairly cultured kid who likes music, plays trumpet in the band, etc. But I don't want to take up a whole evening with this when he'd rather be doing something else, especially since this is to give him one on one time with me. I can't ask him because the trip is a surprise!

Thanks!

If he enjoys live music (considering he is in a band) then he will likely enjoy it as there is a live orchestra and a huge choir that perform live during the show, its a huge production! There is even a part of the show where trumpet players line up along the sides of the theater and perform, this may be an especially exciting part for him as a trumpet player.. Just keep in mind that the show is EXTREMELY popular so you will have to wait in a standby queue just to enter the theater unless you book the dinner package, this may be a good opportunity to overhear the previous show (assuming you are going to the second or third showing) to see if its something you are truly interested in seeing, just keep in mind that once you are seated inside the theater there is really no turning back as standing up to leave while the show is in progress may be challenging and is generally frowned upon by guests trying to see the show and CMs..

This will be our third December trip but first CP show. Our boys will be just 14 and 17. Both are in band too and you can watch some Youtube videos of it - seems very cool. I think it may be a welcome break too from all the walking!

My son was in band from Grade 7 through to the end of high school. He plays sax. :) The first time he saw the candlelight processional, he was ten and still recovering from a nasty bout of croup, so slept through most of it. The second time, though, he'd just turned 14 and he loved it. I think he would have liked it just as much at 13.

It's not a very long show - just 40 minutes or so. And it moves along at a fast, exciting clip, not at all "churchy", though it is religious (sometimes with a brief nod to Channukah). I'd recommend getting the lunch or dinner package, so you don't have to wait quite as long in line. The Biergarten was a hit with my son, back when he was ten, and he still enjoys it. You'll still have plenty of time left in the evening to enjoy Epcot. The package even includes reserved viewing for Illuminations.

Not anymore.

Oh well... it's easy enough to find a spot around the lagoon. I like the Canadian pavilion, myself. :)

We actually gave away our reserved viewing stickers last time, because we were tired and wanted to leave.

Can't speak for your kid, but I was in band and choir at his age, loved Christmas music, had fond memories of childhood Christmas pageants, and would have loved it. Especially if it was a parent/child bonding thing.
